Shoutbox

Post by oldredlion »

Hi

I would like to add a shoutbox to my forum, had a look through the MOD releases and sure I had seen one before but just can't see the mod now, if anyone can lead me in the right direction I would be grateful?

I am running 2.0.23 Version.

Regards

It wasn't a support question, I had seen the shoutbox for version 3.0.0. I was asking for help to add it to 2.0.23 why is that support?

I think you've confused his signiture for his post.

And phpbb3 Mods will not work for phpbb2.

Fully Intergrated shoutbox is probably one of the best for phpbb2.

I understand how to edit the files and upload them via FTP but I am not sure how I go about the sql stuff?

STEP 2:

- run or import the SQL queries in "TABLE.sql" into
your phpBB mySQL database

Run the query in PHPMyAdmin - open it up, go into your database and click the little SQL icon in the middle of the left pane. Copy and paste the queries in there.
The queries look like they can be found in the file TABLE.sql.

Alternatively you can import the SQL file, also from PHPMyAdmin, by clicking on the Import tab

Greetings,

I've installed the phpbb shoutbox and everything is working fine. I would now like to have each shout timestamped. Is this possible and if so, I would appreciate some direction on how to accomplish this. I've posted on the phpbbhacks site on March 2, but no one has answered my question. Thanks in advance!

If you downloaded the mod from here then the place to seek support is within the release topic. If you downloaded it from phpbbhacks.com then that is the place. If you open the install file you should see an email contact for the author and may have to seek help directly.

There can be no support for that mod in this forum.

what shoutbox did you install?

the "fully integrated shoutbox" MOD does this by default.

Hi Lumpy,

It's called "phpbb Shoutbox" and the description is as follows:

"phpBB Shoutbox is a very simple AJAX shoutbox that is fully integrated with the phpBB system. Once you have installed it you can place it anywhere in your phpBB.

Through the use of AJAX, every time a new shout is posted by someone, it will instantly display in the shoutbox without the page having to be refreshed.

The colors are fully customizable and can easily be changed to match your forum style. All smilies are automatically converted into their respective smilie images."

I checked for the author's email address as suggested, but there isn't one listed. Instructions are to contact the author via their website, but it no longer exists.

Thanks in advance for your help.
