Show last post topic in category view

Post by Heqakheperre »

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, but I'm wondering if there's a MOD out there for 2.0.4. that will show the Topic Title in the Last Post column in the index view.

Thanks in advance! 8)

Yes there is ;). Search for Last topic title on index, from Sven, here or at phpbbhacks.com.

Thanks! I was looking for this too. (searching...)
It'd be nice if they'd set this as standard in a future version. :D

i used this mod.

[BETA] Latest Topics on Main Page

but instead of adding another column, i put the last topic on top of the last poster column.

take a look at my site for example.

www.singaporebikes.com/forum/index.php

working fine on 2.0.4.

What did you edit to do this, index_body.tpl? Could you post the code for that.

Thanks

in the index_body.tpl, look for the whole part:

<!-- BEGIN forumrow -->
....
....
....
<!-- END forumrow -->

read CyberAlien's mod install.txt, just skip the index_body.tpl part and use this code instead:

replace everything from <!-- BEGIN forumrow --> to the <!-- END forumrow --> portion with the below code:

Code: Select all

<!-- BEGIN forumrow -->
<tr>
	<td class="row1" height="45"><img src="{catrow.forumrow.FORUM_FOLDER_IMG}" alt="{catrow.forumrow.L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT}" title="{catrow.forumrow.L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT}" /></td>
	<td class="row1" width="100%"><a href="{catrow.forumrow.U_VIEWFORUM}" class="nav">{catrow.forumrow.FORUM_NAME}</a><br />
	<span class="genmed">{catrow.forumrow.FORUM_DESC}<br />
	</span><span class="gensmall">{catrow.forumrow.L_MODERATOR} {catrow.forumrow.MODERATORS}</span></td>
	<td class="row2" align="center"><span class="gensmall">{catrow.forumrow.TOPICS}</span></td>
	<td class="row2" align="center"><span class="gensmall">{catrow.forumrow.POSTS}</span></td>
	<!-- BEGIN topic_on -->
	<td class="row2" align="center" valign="middle" nowrap="nowrap" colspan="2"><span class="gensmall">
	<a class="gensmall" href="{catrow.forumrow.topic_on.U_VIEWTOPIC}">{catrow.forumrow.topic_on.LAST_TOPIC}</a><br />{catrow.forumrow.LAST_POST}</span></td>
	<!-- END topic_on -->
	<!-- BEGIN topic_off -->
	<td class="row2" align="center" valign="middle" nowrap="nowrap" colspan="2"><span class="gensmall">{catrow.forumrow.LAST_POST}</span></td>
	<!-- END topic_off -->
</tr>
<!-- END forumrow -->

Thanks, just one more question.

Post by gbechtel »

Thanks for the format Duskette...

Just one more question. I am trying to get the header column to display correctly. I have been messing around with it but the best I can get it is this.

Code: Select all

<table width="100%" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="1" border="0" class="forumline">
  <tr>
	<th colspan="2" class="thCornerL" height="25" nowrap="nowrap">&{L_FORUM}&</th>
	<th width="50" class="thTop" nowrap="nowrap">&{L_TOPICS}&</th>
	<th width="50" class="thTop" nowrap="nowrap">&{L_POSTS}&</th>
	<th class="thCornerR" nowrap="nowrap">&{L_TOPIC} & &{L_LASTPOST}</th>
  </tr>
The last part of the code leaves a white gap to the right. How did you correct this.

See here http://www.masscops.com

Thanks

Viewing the source on your site clued me in...

Needed <th colspan="2"

Code: Select all

<tr>
	<th colspan="2" class="thCornerL" height="25" nowrap="nowrap">&{L_FORUM}&</th>
	<th width="50" class="thTop" nowrap="nowrap">&{L_TOPICS}&</th>
	<th width="50" class="thTop" nowrap="nowrap">&{L_POSTS}&</th>
	<th colspan="2" class="thCornerR" nowrap="nowrap">&{L_TOPIC} & &{L_LASTPOST}</th>
  </tr>
Thanks anyway

Yes I also hope that the feature can be added in phpbb 2.2. Just showing the last poster/date without the header is not comprehensive enough.

Last poster/topic - on one line - one main page

Post by Jason G »

This looks nice and good. However, I'm seeking a mod that will display who made the last post - overall - on the main page. I don't want a seperate column for the last poster or last topic.

Is there a mod that will display only the last poster and topic, in one line of text, on the bottom of the main page?

Sincerely,
Jason Gastrich
