REQUEST: Admin/Mod Warning Pop-Up?

Post by PureBobba »

You know the pop-up menus that you can make on websites that pop-up when a user access's a certain page. Well I would love to have a mod that, when a mod/admin wants to warn a user or give a mass message via this, the mod/admin can write into a box and the message will go to the specific user(group) or the whole forum members. Can it be done, please say yes.

Im glad someone agrees :)
Iv been trying to fathom it out myself but I can't do modifications. Many say that it would be great incorperated into their board.

I thought you would need to use javascript but the rest is way beyond my personal goals.

Well.. you would need to add some code to the overall header page... You would need to create a template for the message... an admin panel for the message setup...

I think it would be great to. I don't think I have the knowledge to do it but I would be happy to BETA test it on my forum if anyone comes up with it.

I know that it is simple javascript to do the ordinary pop-ups but like you said, we would need a section to place it in. Perhaps in a new version of phpBB we could have a moderator page like were the admins have their own page.

I think it should be a pretty short mod? Will anyone take this up?

You'd be best off forgetting the bit about moderators... It would be far more difficult. The framework for the admin panel is setup so you can just stick the file into it.

yes, but it is better to plan for the future!

I was thinking, the pop-up warning mod would only need .tpl files to come with it. The rest of phpBB's .php files can be modded.

I think you would need something in page header. The report post hack's code for the popup may be useful?

^^
That is the vBulletin version of this hack! If anyone can access the download for it Im sure that may help?

Ok so what about if you had the super moderator MOD installed!!!!

They get to see the ACP well some of it anyway, that way you could let super mods do it aswell, and then not have any normal moderators!!! Or just rename the super moderators to Moderators!!!

Would that work!!!
