New webserver config

Post by ffeingol »

Hello everyone,

I'm implemented a new webserver config (that we are trying out). The random numbers (i.e. proxy errors) should be gone. The overall speed of the site should be better also.

But as normal, there is some bad with the good. The new config seems to have broken the uploads for mods and styles. I am able to log into styles or mods, but when I got to upload, it says I'm not logged in.

I'll be working on the styles/mods issue.

Please reply if you run into any other issues with the new config.

It's not a problem, but another fix.
going to http://phpbb.com/phpBB used to say something about not being able to connect to http://localhost:12XX
http://phpbb.com/phpBB/ (with the slash) worked. But now it's fixed :D
proxies are weird ;)

jackqu7,

Yep, I knew that the trailing slash problem was fixed.

DanielJarrett,

Thanks for the info on the 404. I'll get working in that one.

Just a quick update,

The problem with loggin in and uploading styles/mods seems to be very OS/Browser dependant. If I use IE I can't get in. If I use Mozilla or Netscape, I'm fine.

A few more details please? tar.gz or zip? It's prob. a Source Forge problem. The files are on SF, not our server (not passing the buck).

Try downloading directly from here.

If you don't mind telling, what type of things on this server do you do to help it run better/faster.

eXplosive,

Just trying to even out the load a bit. We're just running a very big website on a not so big server :D.

Overall, I'd had to say that I'm happy with things. In the afternoon (2:00 - 4:00 ish GMT-6) the load gets a tad high. I'm just trying to get that load down a bit.

I think we've got it with the current config, but I'll know better next week when we hit "full load" again.

I'm all ears if you have suggestions. PM or IM me.
