But if we have Hyperportal then we get to have an excuse for a cool swirly-whirlpooly logo. ;)

Perhaps we do it like microsoft and give the product a codename (Whistler, Chigago, Memphis etc.) until we release it with a proper idea. :) WASP is pretty cool as a codename or what about JAP? ;)

hey, i have another idea, why not call it phpXP!!!!! Everyone is doing it so who should prevent us from doing so ... :P

But we can't have a project page until we have a name, IMHO.

This is why we need a codename :) If the codename is good enough to also stand as a real name for the final product, perfect... but as I said even big companies use codenames for their products before they are released.

Whatever we decide, I think we should place a time limit. Let's say.... Midnight, Sunday 18th.
Otherwise this debate will go on forever.

Come on! Check the name-poll! phpPP is most popular! Let it be!
It's over 50%, noone is even close...

phpPP may be winning the poll, but look at the positive response to WASP!! Its hard to figure out what is going on with the whole dynamically-added options. I think that the name is less important than some things. At some point though, there needs to be a final poll.

I would suggest: Let the thread go on for another week or two, then make a new poll with all the options, and point out that this is the final poll, and no options can be added. (This makes the attitude about it pretty different) :D

I like that idea. It gives me longer to plug the name "HyperPortal". :D

nothing personal against phpPP but WASP seems to have better meaning. not everyone who makes a website wants to have lots of content and news... some just want different sections to tell the world about themselves.

so IMO "Website Authoring (or Administration) Software for Php" has more meaning.

just trying to let everyone think outside the box and consider alternatives.

my 2cents
"A nerd is someone whose life is focused on computers and technology, but a geek is someone whose life is focused on computers and technology and LIKES it that way."

True, but aren't content and news what portals are about about? (That's what I have gathered, although I'm not sure myself) ;)

I like WASP a lot, but I almost think it would be really important to have the letter "C" in there, for Content. That seems to be the focus to me. But I say stick with WASP unless something even more clever comes up. (also the mascot issue) 8)
