Are you guys still looking for another developer??

If so, any chance of considering me??
:)

I been writing PHP for about a year now, and familiar with MySQL, and very good with HTML.

( Not as good as Dr subSilver tho )

Cheers,
Paul

I would like to throw my name into the hat as a developer. I have alot of ideas on ways to make this a modular system. I also would like to see it stay closely intergrated with phpBB. I have written several ad ons for phpBB 1.4.x for my own website and think I have a clear understanding of it it will take to build a portal from the core phpBB 2.0.x features.

Well, IMO the developers team has been set for the moment. I don't think it's smart to start with a team that consists of 6 people. Just too many people for the amount of work we have at this time.

What we need to do first is set some definate requirements and think about how we are going to build this module system.. It's no use starting to code now.

If there is one thing that I learned during the development of phpBB2 it is that a LOT of people say that they did 'this and that' and have a lot of time, but in the end, when they are on the team and get work assigned to them...

So we would like to wait a bit before we increase the team size, in that time we can get a better view as to how involved everyone is and where their skills are.. Nothing personal ;) Just being practical here... :D

I'd love to help out, but on a more design oriented level.

I know HTML, and I know the limitations of PHP and such, but I'd love to help create and perfect features on the portal, as well as relay the info I've gained from the forum and by asking people what they would like, then trying to narrow it all down to make THE MOST KICKASS PORTAL EVER :)

Lemme know!

I have php experience and would be most helpful with the statistics portion of the project. I can also help else where as needed with testing and interface design.

You all do realize that once we get a core system that you all will be able to make modules for the system.. so i would imagine that there would be a lot of people making modules once the core is out of the way etc...

okay, i must go meet Lenny Kravitz or however you spell his name.. :)

i have nothing to do at all in my free time (the truth). i know a bunch of languages, but the only ones that might be important are perl (and of course), php/mySQL. last project i did in php/mySQL was a clan site which you can see http://edge-programming.com/scripts/php ... /index.php

it's got a lot of the stuff in it that you might want to include in your portal, like news and custom pages, and a member list. all that good stuff. i have the knowledge and time to work on the script, work on modules, and do support.

If you are still interested in assistants, I can provide grunt work. I also spent two years a "technical writer", so-called because that was not my title at the time... Nonetheless, I can write documentation.

PM if interested.

I'm In

Post by mlimburg » Sat Jan 05, 2002 11:53 pm

Howdy,

I've been writing PHP for a couple of years now, and know MySQL well enough. As for HTML/CSS and UI design, I've been doing it since Netscape v04 so I've some experience there :)

I've worked on postnuke (a little) and then really got into developing Geeklog - which I'm still interested in. However, since playing with phpbb2, I'm really quite interested in what and how it could be used as a portal.

I develop in Windows (with Apache silly) and test in both Win and Linux.
Remember, friends don't let friends install phpNuke.

I would love to join in helping, but alas, I really suck at programming.

So that being said, I would love to do whatever you need of me.
Just contact me if you are interested.

Has it been decided who is in charge of the project yet?
