There has also been alot of topics about how GWA can REALLY alter your boards privacy, especially if admins and mods login.

It caches almost all the info it comes across, including your pms, admin and mod forums, admin panel info etc. Then makes it either searchable, or shows that to other users instead of their own inbox (because its the same url).

I added this to an htaccess file to block GWA users from even loading anything on my server:

Code: Select all

RewriteEngine on

#Google Web Acc Block
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REMOTE_ADDR} ^(72.14.192.|72.14.194.|64.233.172.|64.233.173.|216.78.)
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} !^Mediapartners-Google
RewriteRule ^.*$ - [F]
If they want to see my site, do it without gwa.

GWA is not just a privacy concern, but a security concern. You should never use it on any sites which require a login.

I was wondering about this & did a search instead of starting a new post.

I'm going to include that to my htaccess file. The remote addresses would have to be changed, yes?

No, their from the google IP block and will still all be exactly the same as they were in the past. Remember traffic is accessed via google's remote IP, not yours.
