Isnt it against the rules of using phpbb to remove the copyright footer of phpbb stating that the forum is powered by phpbb?

oh ok I thought it was against the GPL or something and that if it was removed the software was not supposed to be used without first asking the creator of this software

Read the link. :-) You cannot remove the copyright from the code. You are allowed to remove the copyright notice in the footer but you forfeit your right to support on this site and many others as well.

oh it wasnt me that was wanting to do it I ran accross a forum that has no documentation that its powered by phpbb or anything else but it is a phpbb forum

I apologize, I wasn't meaning the "You" in my previous post to be directly at you personally. :-) It was a generic "you" in the broader sense.

oh no prob I figured you wasnt I wasjust letting you know that way most people wasnt thinking I wasasking to take it or saying I did because I didnt and I believe it should remain there wether its asked to be removed or wether or not its free.You guys work hard on software for everyone to use free and they remove your lines stating you created it and put in there own stating the board was designed by them and copyrighted by them.
