A solution for Private Message spamming?

Post by EdMeister »

Hi,

Recently my users are complaining about spam through private messages by users who just register and start spreading automated PM's, possibly through the member list. Since there is no way to ban them permanently on e-mail domain or IP, I was wondering if there is another solution for this, without disabling PM's for all users. Is there a mod or hack available so that only users who have made a specific number of posts can send PM's? Or maybe on usergroup level?

I hope I've made this post in the correct category. If not, my apologies.

Thanks in advance!

There are some MODs, like Post threshold for PM's. Ie, you need to post X amount of posts to a forum before you can use the PM system.

Also the "SPAM" link in my signature has some ideas about how to zap spammers.
