Will polls record who voted for what?

Post by Gentle Giant » Wed Sep 05, 2001 11:35 am

Will the db keep a record of which user has voted for what in a poll? I think this would be very wise, as it considerably increases the possiblities for this feature.

If so, I'm all for it! :)

If not, I'm against polls being included in v2.0 - as it will slow development for a feature that's bound to need re-writing soon afterwards.

Yes, as each user votes their record is stored in the DB.

Will it also be possible to store 'values' for poll questions, as well as just selecting from a list of pre-defined choices?

E.g. "What date do you think phpBBv2 will be released on"? Users enter a date, prize for whoever guesses nearest etc etc

So the database would have to be capable of storing dates, numbers, text etc

What I'm thinking is that the poll capability could be expanded for use in questionnaires and the like.

No, that would be a questionaire not a poll ;)

No plans for that sort of thing at this stage.

Just a suggestion

Post by DrewB » Tue Sep 11, 2001 2:08 am

Just a little suggestion for the poll, when the user hits "submit vote" it goes to the poll results page, and not the "you have submitted a vote" page :) hehe

On another note, why is it when you hit reply their is nothing in the subject field? This should be what the current subject is, and the user can delete it if he wants to change it eh?

If you don't type anything, it will use the original subject line. :D
