Hi

I apologize that I didnt reply as soon as I could. I actually found the source of the problem and was able to fix it early this morning, but I was so pleased that everything on the board worked I wanted to get the site launched asap after!

Anyway, for future reference and for anyone else having the same problem, the file you need to edit is 'overall_header.html' but the solution has nothing to do with jQuery or images!

Simply find:

Code: Select all

<input type="text" name="username" class="sn-nli-form" title="{L_USERNAME}" />
And replace it with:

Code: Select all

<!-- Start Sep Login Name Mod
<input type="text" name="username" id="username" size="10" class="sn-nli-form" title="{L_USERNAME}" />  -->
<input type="text" name="loginname" id="loginname" size="10" class="sn-nli-form" title="{L_LOGINNAME}" />
            <!-- End Sep Login Name Mod -->
There, job done! You may also want to change

Code: Select all

<span class="sn-form-label">{L_USERNAME}:</span><br />
to

Code: Select all

<span class="sn-form-label">{L_LOGINNAME}:</span><br />
just to make it clearer for your users!

But, anyhow - it's simple really. Theres no image editing - everything still fits its just a matter of simple code!

Hope That Helps anyone. Thanks to BoardTalk.net and anyone else who has helped me,
Kind Regards,
Drew

Thanks for the feedback Boardtalk.net, especially the small comment about http://betyoudidntknowthat.com! Much appriciated!

With regards to the sharing, thats what I love to do (most of the time :lol: ). Plus it looks like theres limited support for the 'Seperate Login and Display Name' modifacation, seeing as my post in that mod forum hasn't shown any signs of being answered in what, 3 days!

Anyway. Many thanks and kind regards,
Drew

Hi,
I've edited the header so it's the same size as the content box. But how do I make the header go to the center.
If you look here: http://beta.androidport.net you'll see what I mean :P

Thanks

Try this.

Before you do any file edits, MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF ALL FILES. & make a backup of your Database.

Open: blue.css

Find:

Code: Select all

#sn-header {
	width: 932px;
	height: 100px;
	background: url("{T_THEME_PATH}/images/blue/headerbg.png") repeat-x bottom #0f518f;
Add after:

Code: Select all

	margin: 0 auto;
Find:

Code: Select all

#sn-header-content, #sn-navbar-content {width: 960px; margin: center;}
Replace with:

Code: Select all

#sn-header-content, #sn-navbar-content {
	width: 960px;
	margin: 0 auto;
}
Once you've done that, save all edited files, upload all edited files to the correct folders on your website.

Next, login to your Forum ACP, purge the Theme Cache, as well as the Forum Board Cache.

Code: Select all

ACP -> Styles -> Style components -> Themes -> prosilver -> Refresh. Yes to confirm.
ACP -> General -> Purge the cache. Run now. Yes to confirm.
Empty the Cache from your Browser.

Code: Select all

CTRL/Shift + F5 in your Browser to see the changes have taken effect.
Before you do any file edits, MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF ALL FILES, & make a backup of your Database.

Basically, to center & auto align, you use margin: 0 auto;

Hi Shadow

I see what you mean. The first question that springs to mind is 'Why have you done such a thing?' From experience whenever I've done things like that, I've just made work for myself and ended up going back on myself anyway!

But regardless - it's hard to say without know how you've accomplished what you have done but by guessing I'd say you need to be in your 'overall_header.html' file;
Find:

Code: Select all

<div id="sn-header">
and Replace with:

Code: Select all

<div id="sn-header" align="center">
Maybe. It's just a guess but I think it will work, and it will be universal for all colors too!
This will act as baseline too, so if it doesn't completey work try experimenting yourself using the same principle!

Hope that helps,
Drew

The original Header/Banner did not have a shadow effect, as it spanned the full width of the page, however, now it looks a little odd, as the shadow effect starts below the header/banner region. You will need to fix that for it to look the same, but other than that, it's looking fine.

Also, depending on how many colour sets are involved/available, you might consider altering the other colour css files to do the same, or changing colour sets could throw the site style out from what you have just achieved.

Hello

Do someone knows a mean to access the grey areas located both on left and right sides of the forum.

I guess one needs to modify the css (blue, green, red) in order to access these area.

This thread is extremely complete, but it begins to be a little overpopulated and finding such info as this i am searching for is begining to be a little difficult (Christian, why don't you create a forum for this masterpiece of template).

I mean, maybe the answer has already been given, but I could not find it.

Thanks for info

You will need to edit each of the colour css files

Find:

Code: Select all

html, body {
Add/Replace background-color: #??????;

?????? = HTML colour code = http://html-color-codes.info/

Code: Select all

ACP -> Styles -> Style components -> Themes -> "your style/colour" -> Refresh. Yes to confirm.
ACP -> General -> Purge the cache. Run now. Yes to confirm.
Empty the Cache from your Browser.

Code: Select all

CTRL/Shift + F5 in your Browser to see the changes have taken effect.
Before you do any file edits, MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF ALL FILES, also make a backup of your Database.

tofm2, what type of code are you trying to put in these areas, & what is the function of the code?

hi the snake. thanks for answering me.

On the left side, I would like to put the animated tag cloud that you can see on the bottom of my forum, (difficult to see at first glance on its actual location) and an adsense block on the right place).

Thanks for info.

If you are refering to the link in your sig, the tag cloud alone is approx 300px wide (my screen resolution @ 1280x1024). Either you are going to have to shrink the width of the tag cloud, or the forum board overall width, or both.

Yes, yes, i talk about my signature link (forumportables dot fr)

this is not a problem, its size is ajustable (currently set to 320) i may limit it to 120pix wide.

Anyway, if animated tag cloud not writable in this area , i will put something else, i have numerous stuff to put here, i just need the clue to write html code in it.

thanks for info
