The metallic look is awesome buddy... One tip - I think you changed the background only for .forabg and not for .forumbg (which is used for the container for topic lists in viewforum) - it would be nice if you could apply a similar brushed metal look to that one too.... Cheers :D

Hmm... I was just coming to post the opposite. I don't think it looks like brushed metal at all.

I think you need more like

Yeah I wasn't quite satisfied about the metal either, was planning to change that this afternoon. But yours looks very good. Can you tell me the photoshop settings you used? like the motion blur, noise, colors etc..

PS. In order to view the header properly, you need Flash player 9 (it certainly works with this version), 7 doesn't work, I don't know if 8 does. You should see welcome in 4 different languages moving over it.

It's a pre-set style.
Just go to the adobe exchange
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/
and search for brushed metal.

Nice, very nice...
I wonder if black text on the brushed metal would be more readable.
Also maybe an animated gif instead of the flash.. that way it could easily be replaced with an animated or static gif.

It will be better without flash header. Some users don't have installed adobe flash, and the page gets heavy.

You can give it another header whenever you want.

I just made new images, including a better brush.

However, if you wanna change it. You'll need to follow the following steps:

1. Go to the original prosilver theme, then go to the theme folder, and after that go to the images folder.
2. Copy the following images to "/brushed_metal/theme/images" :: bg_list.gif and gradient.gif .
3. Go to /brushed_metal/theme/colours.css and open the file (with dreamweaver if possible).
4. Now change the following codes:

Code: Select all

.forabg {
	background-color: #e4e4e4;
	background-image: url("{T_THEME_PATH}/images/bg_list.gif");
}

.forumbg {
	background-color: #e4e4e4;
	background-image: url("{T_THEME_PATH}/images/bg_list.gif");
}
into:

Code: Select all

.forabg {
	background-color: #0076b1;
	background-image: url("{T_THEME_PATH}/images/bg_list.gif");
}

.forumbg {
	background-color: #12A3EB;
	background-image: url("{T_THEME_PATH}/images/bg_header.gif");
}
Now go to your administration panel, click on the tab styles, then in the left pane choose for "Theme" and then click "Refresh" on the right side of brushed_metal.

This should do it.

Much better although I think the brightness in the middle of the metal bars is a little too much. It masks the white text for topic/views etc a bit. Black/darker text or less brightness. Worth a play with that I think.
