[Release] 'Dark Style' phpBB3 Smilies

Title: 'Dark Style' phpBB3 Smilies
Description: The current phpBB3 smilies altered slightly in order to display correctly on darker styles (removes white pixels around the edges).

Demo: View a comparison
Download: 'Dark Style' phpBB3 Smilies
Compatability: 3.0.0 - 3.0.11
Notes: Simply upload to your 'phpBB3/images/smilies' directory, overwriting the existing smilies. You may need to refresh your browser cache for the changes to appear.

If the smilies appear distorted, correct their dimensions by using the following script (upload to root and execute).
It's also worth mentioning that using these smilies on a light style (like prosilver or subsilver2) makes them look less smooth and more 'square'. I advise you use the normal ones in this case.

Fix smiley sizes (thanks to eviL3):

Code: Select all

include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.' . $phpEx);

$dir = $phpbb_root_path . 'images/smilies/';
if ($dh = opendir($dir))
{
   while (false !== ($file = readdir($dh)))
   {
      if (in_array(substr(strrchr($file, '.'), 1), array('jpg', 'jpeg', 'png', 'gif'), true))
      {
         list($width, $height) = getimagesize($dir . $file);

         $sql = 'UPDATE ' . SMILIES_TABLE . ' SET ' . $db->sql_build_array('UPDATE', array(
            'smiley_width'   => (int) $width,
            'smiley_height'   => (int) $height,
         )) . ' WHERE smiley_url = \'' . $db->sql_escape($file) . '\'';
         $db->sql_query($sql);
      }
   }
   closedir($dh);
}

echo 'Smiley sizes adjusted.';

?>
Need the icons for dark styles too? Have a look here.

Too bad the program doesn't allow you to choose which smilies. The program could have two folders, smilies1, smilies2, 1 being light and 2 being dark and then an option when you install the style to choose the smilie folder
