Banner replacement not working

Post by kaonashi » Mon Apr 03, 2006 6:10 am

Hello,

I tried to follow your instructions for putting in a logo at the top. In my case, it's a banner to match the one that's on my blog.

I tried to resize it so that the width would fit, and I ended up with a banner that's 962x208 pixels. I pasted the code that you provided:

Code: Select all

<center><img src="/templates/RedSilver/images/logo.jpg" alt ="Forum Logo" /></center>
[/color]

and even changed the banner name to "logo" to make things easier but it's not appearing. Yes, I put it in the right folder. I made the banner linkable too, and that at least is working. I thought that maybe the banner was too big, so I shrunk it down to 50% but it still didn't show up. Advice, please?

I mean it's using the same .a css tags as subsilver and the .maintitle is also the same. I'm just not grasping what's the trouble? Why does subsilver work and Redsilver not?
I completely agree. Theres gotta be a better solution. I hated lowering my whole forum, so i just left it until i find a fix.

There are changes in the template-files that you have to change when you install some mods. You need to make thoose changes in all styles you install on your forum.

I tried to change the width of the page to a fixed width and the left and right borders are gone now. What do i need to do to keep a fixed width without loosing the dropshadowed borders?

One issue with this template is that, when viewed with 800x600 monitors... If you have alot of links at the top.. the autowrap on the links puts them underneath where you cant see them. Demo: Look Here (just resize your explorer window)
But I came up with a fix. This only works in explorer (not firefox for some reason). But I edited the background images, so the red stripe was only on the bottom image. You will not notice it on the site, as All colors are still there, just in different places. Here are the files
http://eastcoastchopstix.com/forum/temp ... enubkg.gif
http://eastcoastchopstix.com/forum/temp ... adient.gif
Just go into templates/redsilver/images and replace the existing files.

The issue with the Topic Title overlapping the navigation links in the header and making them unusable was driving me crazy and causing angst for my FireFox users, so I decided to hack a solution that didn't move everything down two lines.

I opened /templates/redsilver/viewtopic_body.tpl and replaced the top few lines;

Code: Select all

<table width="100%" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" border="0">
  <tr>
	<td align="left" valign="bottom" colspan="2"><a class="maintitle" href="{U_VIEW_TOPIC}">{TOPIC_TITLE}</a><br />
	  <span class="gensmall"><b>{PAGINATION}</b><br />
	  &nbsp; </span></td>
  </tr>
</table>
With;

Code: Select all

<table width="100%" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" border="0">
  <tr>
	<td align="left" valign="bottom" colspan="0"><b>
	<a style="font-family: Trebuchet MS; font-weight: bold" href="{U_VIEW_TOPIC}">{TOPIC_TITLE}</a></b><br />
	  <span class="gensmall"><b>{PAGINATION}</b><br />
	  &nbsp; </span></td>
  </tr>
</table>
Yes, I know, that defeats the purpose of the style sheet, but it works for me. Your mileage may vary.

I tried the zip and winzip tells me that the file is corrupted. I was able to have old pkzip fix the error and managed to unzip it, but after upload, the board admin style add fails to recognize the folder's existence.
