Mod install error: open_basedir restriction in effect

Post by Arietide » Tue Feb 21, 2012 3:41 pm

phpBB version: 3.0.10
PHP version: 5.2.17
Database version: MySQL 5.1.56
Board address: http://www.asteridas.com.br/forum

Hello, I am in the process of setting up a new board and currently installing mods. I have already installed Advanced BBCode Box3 3.0.10 successfully, though I did it manually, and also installed the latest AutoMOD to save some time, also without problems.

However, when I tried to install phpGallery 1.1.4 through AutoMOD (I unzipped the mod and uploaded all the contents to the /store/mods/ directory, and it was detected without issues), I got the following error message:

Code: Select all

[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/includes/acp/acp_mods.php on line 1912: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(./../store/mods/root/styles/subsilver2/*.*) is not within the allowed path(s): (C:/Inetpub/vhosts/asteridas.com.br/httpdocs/)
[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/includes/acp/acp_mods.php on line 1915: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(./../store/mods/templates/root/styles/subsilver2/*.*) is not within the allowed path(s): (C:/Inetpub/vhosts/asteridas.com.br/httpdocs/)

[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/adm/index.php on line 154: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at [ROOT]/includes/functions.php:3815)
I already tried contacting the mod developer and he told me it was an AutoMOD issue. I'd like to know what can I do to fix it.

Thanks for your time.

Why didn't you use the upload function within automod to upload the mod?

Thank you for the response.

I did try doing it before, and got a pretty similar error. I reproduced it so I could paste the message here:

Code: Select all

File(./../store/mods/phpbb_gallery_1_1_4/root/styles/subsilver2/*.*) is not within the allowed path(s): (C:/Inetpub/vhosts/asteridas.com.br/httpdocs/)

It seems to be a server issue and as it is windows I haven't a clue how to fix it. Try a google on this error
file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect.

Hmm, I'll try contacting my host again, then. Thank you.

Edit: Just got in touch with my host -- I am on a shared hosting environment, meaning they cannot lift/add exceptions to open_basedir restrictions because of security issues.

Is there any way to make it so that the commands do not try to access the server's root, even if it means directing it to my website's root? (Please have in mind my PHP knowledge is nil, I am no programmer.)

Then find a new host as many do allow it (as well as fopen, etc.)
