Header image problems. Please help.

Post by PaSsEr » Tue Apr 13, 2004 10:54 am

I am using the theme "FI Black 3D Blue" for phpbb

The header image is not displayed correctly. At first i notice that people who is using desktop res 800 x 600 will be seeing a the forum have long width, i manage to found out that its because of my header image had a res of 967 x 120 , so i changed my header image to 800 x 120 and it looks fine on ppl with 800 x 600 res but ppl with 1024 x 768 will see a blank space on the right of the header image. how to fix this?

To know more on what i'm talking about, people with desktop res of 1024x768 can visit my forum to see the problem. ppl of other desktop res are of course welcomed too...

I'm not sure if this would work....but you could maybe try the way they do the logo for the plus board. I know phpBB doesn't support that here...but I have a few plus boards and the image looks good in all res. Here is the code I believe for that...maybe try that once. But Im sure CyberAlien could point you in a better direction when he sees this.

Please Note: You might not all that coding, but some of that might help you lol. You'll have to change the fisubsilversh part to your style and maybe the logo format to your format...like gif or whatever. Also the spacer.gif could be just maybe removed or something and or make a spacer image using some of your logo's original design like. I dunno...worth a shot I suppose. Till CyberAlien gets here. :wink:

Code: Select all

<body>
<a name="top" id="top"></a>
<table class="bodyline" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0">
<tr>
<td>
<table class="topbkg" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0">
<tr>
<td><a href="index.php"><img src="templates/fisubsilversh/images/phpbb2_logo.jpg" border="0" alt=" Forum Index" title=" Forum Index" width="240" height="110" /></a></td>
<td><img src="images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="28" height="4" /></td>
</tr>
</table>

Ok.....it's up to you. Sometimes I just like "rigging" things around with my forums to make things work for me. And I try various things in various resolutions so it does look good though to...not just one res. Was just a thought....CyberAlien will help you alot better I'm sure. :wink:

Just set some background image to that table that would nicely blend with your logo.

You have problem with image because it is fixed width and forum is dynamic width. So to solve problem you need to set some background image.

Current image isn't background. Its a fixed image.

To set background image first create some image that you will use, then open overall_header.tpl, find

Code: Select all

<td><a href="index.php"><img src="templates/fisubsilversh/images/phpbb2_logo.jpg" border="0" alt=" Forum Index" title=" Forum Index" width="240" height="110" /></a></td>
and replace with something like:

Code: Select all

<td background="templates/fisubsilversh/images/logo_backgroumd.jpg"><a href="index.php"><img src="templates/fisubsilversh/images/phpbb2_logo.jpg" border="0" alt=" Forum Index" title=" Forum Index" width="240" height="110" /></a></td>

I couldn't find the thing you want me to replace with... but i found something like this in it:

"<td width="100%" height="120"><a href="WHATEVER.URL"><img src="templates/fiblack3d/images/YOUR_IMAGE" alt="DESCRIPTION" width="WIDTH" height="HEIGHT" title="DESCRIPTION" /></a></td>
<td><a href="WHATEVER.URL"><img src="templates/fiblack3d/images/YOUR_IMAGE" alt="DESCRIPTION" width="WIDTH" height="HEIGHT" title="DESCRIPTION" /></a></td>"
(example)

so i replace that with the one you gave me:

"<td background="templates/fisubsilversh/images/logo_backgroumd.jpg"><a href="index.php"><img src="templates/fisubsilversh/images/phpbb2_logo.jpg" border="0" alt=" Forum Index" title=" Forum Index" width="240" height="110" /></a></td>"

i changed the width to 800 and the height to 120.

I still have the same problem, except for this time ppl with 1024x768 res instead of see a blank space beside my logo now it becomes the logo pic tile beside the logo. thats means that now i have two logos,

I do not know how to explain but you can see it at : Gaming Fantasy Community
