your right it does need error handling on every function.

luka - there are some free VB add in's that can put error code on to each function automatically. would you like me to send you one?

i think the only error handling it needs is at the top of each function an

Code: Select all

on error goto ErrorSub
and at the bottom

Code: Select all

Exit Sub
ErrorSub:
msgbox err.description,vbokonly & vbcritical, "Error: " & err.number
resume next
there is an addin that will put that in everymod that dosnt have any error handling in it already.

maybe you could release a DEBUG version with that in every sub so that people who test it can report the errors to you?

no tanks ;). I had some function that have the error handling function.. and some not..
This because VB automatically show up the error message on every uncontrolled error before quit, And i WANT that the proram QUIT on every uncontrolled error, to prevent damage to forum files :)
The problem is that the menuxp.dll make conflict with this.. the autor is fixing it ;)

Humm.. u can sent to me your database.dbm file and DBDir folder in the program directory?
Ah, check all files in the DBDir folder, an old version, during the saving function (called also to save modified to a mod), saved in arraneous manner the Author Description text. without the ## in front of new line of desription, and this make the program crash at every startup.

If the problem isn't it, Please sent to me the Mod txt file and also all database files (database.dbm and all files in "DBdir" folder), so i can check it.

Or tell to me exactly what u do before that the program ShutDown ;)

i'm a vb programmer (i can help you), but i dont have vb installed here at work...

you want some suggestions?

here one: make directories that dont exists, exists... how? like this: modsmanager replaces INCLUDE, INCLUSE, INCLUSES, with INCLUDES (the right directory)...

because in some mods theguy puts wrong directories, and this causes some errors...

well, just a suggestion...

let's face reality here. there's a lot of mods that are not standard or have some typo error.

the main component that lacks it is the auto convert which you removed. the best thing with a great apps is that it can adapt to a situation either standard or not, typo error or not. a great program anticipates all this error & make amend.

when you code a program you are thinking of automating everything so that end user will just point & click. same with the mods what's the use if you check the mods manually for errors, if it standard or not... debug first before install...

this apps great potential loses with removal of what it needs the most.
