adcantu wrote:As for to reply to a person, a quick ugly fix...

Open: styles/prosilver/templates/memberlist_view.html

FIND

Code: Select all

		<!-- IF wallrow.U_DELETE -->
			<dd>
				<ul class="profile-icons">
					<li class="delete-icon"><a href="{wallrow.U_DELETE}"><span>{DELETE_IMG}</span></a></li>
				</ul>
			</dd>
		<!-- ENDIF -->
Replace with

Code: Select all

		<!-- IF wallrow.U_DELETE -->
			<dd>
				<ul class="profile-icons">
				    <li class=""><a href="{wallrow.U_POST_AUTHOR}#wall">Reply</a></li>
					<li class="delete-icon"><a href="{wallrow.U_DELETE}"><span>{DELETE_IMG}</span></a></li>
				</ul>
			</dd>
		<!-- ENDIF -->
This is kind of ugly... The problem is that any admins will see the reply button on everyone's profile, for everyone who has commented. (although some may see this as a feature!) Also, its simply text that says "Reply", so it doesnt look too pretty in the style. However it should at least add some functionality to reply.

I have been working on adding an actual pretty image with rollover effect and such, but I am short on time and it requires a few edits. Once I get it worked out I will send a copy to the mod author so they can include it as a contrib or standard feature. Ill post here too the edits for everyone.
I used the following code. I don't have the little reply button for you all if you want to do this sorry. but you can make one yourself easy enough.

Code: Select all

		<!-- IF wallrow.U_DELETE -->
         <dd>
            <ul class="profile-icons">
			 <!-- IF S_WALL_OWN -->
                <li class=""><a href="{wallrow.U_POST_AUTHOR}#wall"><img src="./images/commentreply.gif" /> </a> </li>
               <!-- ENDIF -->
			   <li class="delete-icon"><a href="{wallrow.U_DELETE}"><span>{DELETE_IMG}</span></a></li>
            </ul>
         </dd>
      <!-- ENDIF -->
I prefer to allow users to post on their own walls. Therefore, I thought it was odd to have "Reply" buttons on a users' own posts on their wall. To ensure Reply buttons only get affixed to others' posts, I made the following modification, which appears to work.

1. Open memberlist.php

Find:

Code: Select all

if ($row['wall_user_id'] == $user->data['user_id'] || $row['wall_poster_id'] == $user->data['user_id'] || $auth->acl_get('a_wall'))
{
      $wallrow['U_DELETE'] = ($row['wall_deleted']) ? '' : append_sid("{$phpbb_root_path}wall.$phpEx", "mode=delete&u=$user_id&w={$row['wall_id']}");
}
Add after:

Code: Select all

if ($row['wall_user_id'] == $user->data['user_id'] && $row['wall_poster_id'] != $user->data['user_id'] )
     {
      $wallrow['U_REPLY'] = true;
     }
2. Open .../template/memberlist_view.php

Use:

Code: Select all

<!-- IF wallrow.U_REPLY --><li class=""><a href="{wallrow.U_POST_AUTHOR}#wall">Reply</a> </li><!-- ENDIF -->
Instead of:

Code: Select all

<!-- IF S_WALL_OWN --><li class=""><a href="{wallrow.U_POST_AUTHOR}#wall"><img src="./images/commentreply.gif" /> </a> </li><!-- ENDIF -->

Thanks bpan1. I think the concept come from the differences between myspace and facebook. If we could style it so that replies to comments on a person's own wall were actually nested below the other user's comments, that would look better (ie facebook style).

The current system, while called "wall" I think is more of an imitation of myspace style, in which I feel it looks odd to have your own comments there :D

That makes sense. I like your suggestion about the nested comments (a la facebook). I'll see if I can come up with something for that.

(famous last words)
I was wondering if anyone had any luck with this...

would be nice if someone took over the development. There are a lot of great features that you could add to a mod like this.
