Re: [RC] AIR-box Auto Image Resizer Box

Post by What to do now »

Is it possible to define the "resize width" in the BBcode tag instead of airbox.js?

It would be nice to have a dynamic width option and not only one static width in the .js

E.g. I want to show several images with different resized width in the same post / forum.

Why do you ask to have all the .js code inserted into the footer? I'm purely a novice but normally isnt that best inside the header?

The reason I ask is when it's in the footer the Phoogle map mod fails. When I moved it up tot he header all was well.

Nice work so far BTW. This mod wil be a valuable service on my site.

I've that code in header file from the very first version I tried. It doesn't matter where you put, if it works for you like in my case. But few people faced some problem with the code in header. In short, keep your code in header ..... if you face any problem, move it to footer.

Excellent Mod.

I spent days trying to get help to get another script to work as a slide show - with no luck.

I installed this in 10 minutes and it worked first time.

I have a question though:

Is it possible to get a slideshow using attachments - if so I seem to have missed the details somewhere - if not, can this be added at some time.

I would also like to see a change that scales images down, but then only resizes large images to the maximum screen size of the viewer - if that's possible.

Keep up the good work

It seems you solved the problem meanwhile.
I say it to you and all listening: if you remove credits, I can't give no support now and in the future.

yes you can,
supposing you have already installed airbox:

in styles/prosilver/template/attachment.html find:

Code: Select all

  <!-- AIR-Box mod change - starts here -->
                <!-- original line - starts here
         <dt class="attach-image"><img src="{_file.U_INLINE_LINK}" alt="{_file.DOWNLOAD_NAME}" onclick="viewableArea(this);" /></dt>
            original line - ends here -->
         <dt><a href="{_file.U_INLINE_LINK}" rel="lightbox"><img class="postimage" src="{_file.U_INLINE_LINK}" alt="{_file.DOWNLOAD_NAME}"  /></a></dt>
       <!-- AIR-Box mod addition - ends here -->
and replace with:

Code: Select all

                    <!-- AIR-Box mod change - starts here -->
                    <!-- original line - starts here
             <dt class="attach-image"><img src="{_file.U_INLINE_LINK}" alt="{_file.DOWNLOAD_NAME}" onclick="viewableArea(this);" /></dt>
                original line - ends here -->
             <dt><a href="{_file.U_INLINE_LINK}" rel="lightbox [slideshow]"><img class="postimage" src="{_file.U_INLINE_LINK}" alt="{_file.DOWNLOAD_NAME}"  /></a></dt>
           <!-- AIR-Box mod addition - ends here -->
note: it creates a slideshow across attachments images, actually if you want to blend with remote images in the same post you should:

1. change slideshow bbcode and put [slideshow] as constant. Doing it you'll loose the option for creating multiple slideshows within the same post... (who cares?)

or

2. inform your users to use the exact word "slideshow" to blend remote images with attachments in the same gallery and preserve separation between attachment and remote img slideshows.

bye

Hi and thank you for this great mod.. really love it's features ;)

I was wondering if you could help me solve this problem.
When I test this mod in FF it all works but in IE7 there is no close button showing, only a black bar in the lower right part of the box.
I also noticed that your mod conflicts with THIS mod I'm using.
The mod in the link above does not show it's tooltip anymore.
Hope there is an easy fix for it as I would hate it to lose one of the mods :(
I have no link for you to check it out cause the site is running locally

And would it be possible to let users close the full size image by just clicking on it instead of using the close button?
I ask this because my forum has allot of really big screenshots and I don't like my users to searching for a close button.

Hope you can help me.
Thanks in advance, Repo

incompatibilties beetween differents JS happen often, most lkely for variables that have the same name. I'm really sorry but it's impossible for me to search into the code of every other js around there... maybe you could just look if there are some variable with the same name that conflicts....
But generally there are some js that relies on mootools libraries (like air-box), others on jquery or scriptaculous etc... you should really limit your mods to a group using just one of those libraries...

for the "click on image to close" feature, I coded it some time ago and did'nt upgrade anymore. I can send you the file and you can try to integrate it in the updated release. Actually I have 0 time to do that... pm oyur email if interested

rufuz, many thanks to you for this excellent mod. I hope you'll continue to develop it and graciously provide support because it is one-of-a-kind in its simplicity and function! :D :D :D

I have a few problems due to my being a real amateur:

1. I do not understand your instructions to force all pictures in a post to be displayed as a slideshow. Right now I do not get a left/right previous/next arrow to scroll through the pictures in a post. What do you mean put [slideshow] as constant in BBCode?
1. change slideshow bbcode and put [slideshow] as constant. Doing it you'll loose the option for creating multiple slideshows within the same post... (who cares?)
2. My signatures resize and I can't understand why. Any ideas?

3. I would like to have the pictures be resized dynamically to fit the user's window. When I comment out lines 22-24 and remove the comment marks for the latter part, the pictures no longer resize at all and are displayed full-size. What can I be doing wrong?

4.
a) Just 2 suggestions FWIW - if it is possible (?) it would be an awesome feature for a small watermark or graphic to appear over the thumbnail to graphically show users that the small thumbnail can be clicked to expand it. Right now the message "click here to see image full size" appears on mouseover, which is good, but I think having a small graphic (like a magnifying glass) in the corner of the thumbnail would be even better.
b) At present one must click the "close" or outside of the lightbox area to close the full-size image. It would be a great feature IMO to be able to simply click the photo itself to close it.

jackbot thanks for your feedback.

1. your quote refers to a post where a user was asking to have slideshow along attachments and remote images because in RC2 this is possible only for remote images.

Actually it is an option a user can activate putting the code:

Code: Select all

[slideshow=groupSlideshow]http://www.mysite.com/myImage01.jpg,title[/slideshow]
To simplify things I will try in the next release to have a single slideshow by default for remote and attachment in the same post: in other words all images a user will publish in a post will be grouped in a single slideshow simply putting the standard [img] , no options around, next and prev will appear in any case.
Does it sound better?

2. Signatures are not supposed to open in a lightbox, but, yes, to be resized. So if user put an signature image too large it will fit and not be cropped. If a user put a sig img smaller it won't be resized. Does it make sense?

3. Don't know, probably you should input correct values, try to change them , they should be negative.
Anyway, the best way for me is to leave comments, then:
line 22

Code: Select all

 if (pic.width > 640)
line 24

Code: Select all

 pic.setAttribute('width','640')
in both lines put instead of 640 the width of your posting layout, less 1 px.

4.a. maybe in next release... but maybe 'cos I prefer to adress more important things... like:

4.b. This could be done in the next release as others were requesting it, too... but, please be patient as actually I'm very busy...

bye

ricc.

I think that sounds like a great idea :D Personally I can't think of when a user would not want their posted images to be in a slideshow format so I think it would be awesome if this was done by default without the user needing to use the [slideshow] code.

Yes this makes sense. I didn't know this was the intended behaviour. Actually, I like it - I just wanted to make sure that I didn't do something incorrectly.

I will attempt to follow your directions...wish me luck :)

Of course I can be patient :D Good luck with future development and thanks again for the wonderful mod. It has really made a nice upgrade in appearance and functionality at my little forum.
