In the original post in this thread it is noted that "stopforumspam-disallow.php is not working."

Is it actually non-functional and should not be used? What is the issue? Is there a fix?

Hello,
the StopForumSpam.com list is working together with the DNS blacklist opm.tornevall.org. This list may have some false positives. But if you want to use this list to block spam registrations or spam postings then you can use it with the Advanced Block MOD.

Don't ban, just block! ;)

Wow really? This mod is in development, it is not to be used on a live phpBB forum. The only time mods in development should be used in a live forum is in the RC stages, then it would be acceptable. DEV is too early, Beta is risky.

That said, i would love this mod to be continued. If it can check the stopforumspam ip's and emails and automatically deny registration we would have a huge advantage against the war on spam.

It looks like the advanced block mod does this and more

    }
Where do we put this code please?

To make stopforumspam-disallow.php work:

urlencode the username (line 37), otherwise it will choke on all usernames containing spaces:

Code: Select all

$cUrl = $stopSpamUrl.'?username='.urlencode($clean_username);
Replace all

Code: Select all

exit;
statements by

Code: Select all

return;
(lines 43, 49, 50, 51, 53).
