well this flaw seems to be ignored over and over but in my mind it makes this mod totally unusable.
I actually installed this mod and when it started locking up on me, I reverted to my DB and source prior to the MOD... I really want to use the mod but can't with it locking up my users. :?

I did the same thing. freeze ups are not within the limits of which I will tolerate. This is a serious problem with this mod of the most critical nature.

I've never encountered this error. It's running perfectly on my site.
I tried to replicate it by zooming all the way out, but all it did was zoom all the way out. :?

Kinda harsh and uninformed to say it is "ignored". First, this flaw wasn't there before. It just suddenly started happening. We don't know what Google changed that would causes it to happen, so there isn't much we can do about it.

If you read a few post up you should see that google are informed about this.

I dont know if this has been up yet but I´m having problem with the swedish letters å, ä and ö when inserting an event or member in the map.
First of all it seems that the sql script you should run in phpmyadmin misses UTF-8. When I run the script clean I get my tables in Latin_swe... wich none of the other phpbb3-tables are in (they are in UTF-8_bin).
Moreover, when I change the phoogle-tables to UTF-8_bin the problem remains.
I´ve gone through the code in acp_google.php but have not came up with any solutions.
The problem is in both event_title and event_desc.

Maybe this is missing beneath $message_parser:

Code: Select all

$message_parser->message	= utf8_normalize_nfc($event_desc);
Could you or someone else please take at look at this, it would help me alot!
Got it working, nevermind above!

you're right I apologize for being overly harsh. I am just really excited about this mod and I think I was letting my emotions get carried away. I would really like to see this problem fixed though. It totally stops me from moving forward with this app. I will look forward to seeing someone come up with a solution to this. Thank you for understanding.

There is a bit of javascript in the mod already that can limit how far in a user can zoom. I bet it could be modified pretty easily to limit how far the user can zoom out. :ugeek:

I was hoping we can do that as a short term fix, I believe the problem lies in the javascript that create the line between pointer that causes this unexpected behavior. Though I don't know how to limits it after reading some of the API.

Anyone else have an idea?

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /phoogle.php on line 188: Undefined index: PHOOGLE_PICK_GROUP
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /phoogle.php on line 251: Undefined variable: event
i didn't see an answer to this but i had to go back to 0.2.0, and it got rid of some of the error except the undefined variable:event error so i went back and i made an event, got rid of the error, but now i select events from the dropdown box and nothing happens the page just refreshes! :?

Hi good people.
I haven't modded my forum yet and and I REALLY want to do this mod.I have dnlded it, extracted it, I've read thru http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 9&t=724145
and got hung up with copying files. I mean, what I'm finding in the Phoogle folders is nothing like what it's explaining. I literally don't know what to copy where?

As I look down the install.xml file, I find a copy line and here is where I get confused:
<copy>
<file from="root/phoogle.php" to="phoogle.php" />
<file from="root/adm/style/acp_phoogle_config.html"
I mean, I just can't find step one to match the step one that is outlined in the instructions.
I mean do I just ftp the whole phoogle folder and subfolders and install it that way?
I'm confused about basics and there is so much information on this forum, I can't find a "starting" place. It's well designed, but for experienced phpbb3 and prior users.
ie, Modx, automod? Is "modx" just a mod for the newest version of phpBB? Can I use automod on that?
Thank you very much in advance.

I would advise against using any kind of automatic mod installer. In the xml file, root refers to whatever folder your forum is installed in (where it's index.php file is located), ie. if your forum is installed in htdocs/phpBB3/, then substitute that for root and copy files over from there.
This MOD actually has a lot of editing of existing files, so make a backup of your site first before you do any editing. The MySQL stuff is pretty harmless, so I don't think it's imperative that you backup your whole DB before running the sql code (in phpMyAdmin or whatever db tool you use).

Ok, so I can upload the install.xml file into that root folder..
DId the backup
what's the next step after uploading the install.xml file into the root?
I can get into phpmyadmin, and the sql tab, but now what goes in there? Do I upload more files from local phoogle folder to the same root dir? And edit those? which, what where?
I'm sorry folks, but I just can't find any INSTRUCTIONS HERE>> it's like a little trade secret to do mods and I ain't got it!
If I could find specific instructions, I could do this.
I just need to do one mod and get my feet wet and I'm sure the others won't be this hard for me. I've already learned a lot.
I like learning.

I'm to here:
4. In the lower right, open the drop-down box next to the 'Add module' button. Under the bold 'Phoogle Map [acp_phoogle]' heading,
select 'Phoogle Map Settings', then click the 'Add Module' button.
I don't have a "map settings".
I have config, events, event markers and users, but no "map settings"..
Did I botch something up?

/public_html/forumname/includes/acp/acp_phoogle.php has been uploaded to the acp folder.
Same with UCP...
I have these files there on my local pc and on the server /public_html/forum name/adm/style:
acp-phoogle_config
acp_phoogle_event_markers
acp_phoogle_events
acp_phoogle_markers
acp_phoogle_users

No "map settings" were asked to be uploaded?
#

Copy: root/adm/style/acp_phoogle_config.html
To: adm/style/acp_phoogle_config.html

#

Copy: root/adm/style/acp_phoogle_event_markers.html
To: adm/style/acp_phoogle_event_markers.html

#

Copy: root/adm/style/acp_phoogle_events.html
To: adm/style/acp_phoogle_events.html

#

Copy: root/adm/style/acp_phoogle_markers.html
To: adm/style/acp_phoogle_markers.html

#

Copy: root/adm/style/acp_phoogle_users.html
To: adm/style/acp_phoogle_users.html

Any ideas why I don't have a map settings module to setup?
