Re: [RC]AlternateLogin(Windows Live,Facebook,Twitter,OpenID)

Post by kickball365 »

I just attempted to force install the latest vesion of AlternateLogin. I was asked to click a link to finish the final steps (I assume to alternatelogin_mod_install) and now I am being auto redirected to my main URL with nothing but this...
"herehttp://kickball365.com/forum/"
It will also not let me go to alternatelogin_mod_install on its own.

Help?

Thanks,
Kickbal365

I am having the same issue.

If you log out of Facebook at facebook.com you can then access the site again, I am working on this but I am having trouble find that particular section of code.

I look into it also. It seems to come from a bug in the Facebook "redirect_url" param.

Much appreciated. I'll be glued to this discussion all day. My site is down because of this error.

I found out that this is going to happen when the user is not logged in with Facebook, but with normal login.

You can open the file "/includes/functions_alternatelogin.php" and comment those lines at 202 and 203 (for the last release)

Code: Select all

echo 'here' . $my_url;
exit;
It won't let the page load, but should redirect to the ucp main page if I remember correctly.

Many thanks for finding that.

Below is the recently updated file that you can use to replace your current installed functions_alternatelogin.php file:

Code: Select all

Even with the updated file I am being re-directed to:
http://www.facebook.com/dialog/oauth?cl ... tory,email

I had previously installed AlternateLogin and went to upgrade to the new version. I am not logged to FB on the browser so I'm not sure why its prompting me to this URL. I previously did NOT have any of the login options selected (i.e. facebook, twitter, openid, etc).

Thoughts?

I wasn't able to access your forum, I won't be able to offer more insight without seeing what happens, did you uninstall the old MOD first?

Yes, I uninstalled the old mod. installed the new. and then went to complete the final steps. i have not done anything else other than upload the new version of the includes file you posted recently.

guardianwill wrote:Hey All, hope this holiday season is going well for all. Testing the demo out to see if face book works well enough and it did register me quickly enough.

And afterward brought me back to log in.

I went to see the personal profile, all seemed well there, then I went to ConSof tab and of course I seen the windows live and the google and then I guess the openid and then facebook which sported this error:

Facebook Profile Picture:<img src="
Catchable fatal error: Object of class stdClass could not be converted to string in /home/mjimeyg/consof.com/forums/cache/tpl_prosilver_ucp_alternatelogin.html.php on line 136

which was as like I said on the demo.

Just a few questions,

When they register, and you have regular registrants authenticating their email, afterwhich they then wait until I approve them for the board,m will this follow what all other new registers have to do?

Sorry, I think this is a great MOD and to the author hat's off and I hope and pray this will come through with flying colors of which you would be the first. I commend you and by the looks of things you are on the right track because there are a bunch of addition requests and folks usually do not place them unless they feel as if its a MOD that will go all the way! hmmm sounds of ESPN? Kidding. I just need to know that my security that I have built up on phpbb won't be bypassed to create more of a headache then the little additional traffic I might receive. I get a lot of traffic coming through and reading, its really new and shucks I haven't even made it past new member by my very own ranking system yet.

I love the idea, and if it continues to be good progress I need to know if I can use simply facebook because for some reason OpenId did not work for me and really messed the index page up when trying to select. So I ununstalled it and uninstalled the database. Hoping to get some direction from the author of this fine MOD that once finished and released will be a highlight of the year MOD because of their commitment to see this through to the end. Which in turn will bring PHPBB back to the limelight and in the running--so far PHPBB is about the only lone ranger of the higher quality boards that does not have a solid at least facebook login.

Another question is: Do you have your demo so only facebook can login? I would have like to try to see if you could manually login with the facebook credentials if facebook let's say was down or unreachable? Then you can log in with your credentials from facebook manually?

Actually I think I answered my own question. The answer is No? I have tried to log in with my username and then the password that I log into facebook with is not being accepted. I have not received a welcome email from the demo site letting me know of a password or username or anything. So if facebook is down then my account is frozen and I cannot change anything either from the account settings because I do not know my password. Just helping all. Guess that is what I use demo's for to test it out before I put it active on mine and have some kind of answers so if a user of mine asks me I can answer and not have to say wait til I find out from the author ect and wait somemore when you leave support question.

Can you unlink your facebook account once you have linked it?

Thanks and anxious to hear a response and assistance.

William
I realised from your questions that I hadn't updated the demo board. I have done so now so you should be able to see the current version at work.

Some of those errors you mentioned were because Facebook changed their APi.

You can't unlink your account but you can stop it from syncing any data and use manual log phpbb log in.

I tried this board, the error it returned was on the Facebook site. This usually means that a setting in Facebook is incorrect or that you entered Facebook details wrong in the ACP. Unfortunately the error message from Facebook doesn't give further details.

Whenever I clicked the Register or Login buttons the link was to the standard phpBB pages but it took me to the Facebook error page.

Aside from using a different theme have you made any other changes to the MOD?

The only active mods are yours and tapatalk.

The settings are correct in the ACP and they were turned OFF... should this error be shown if they are off?

Thanks!

If you are referring to the Facebook social plugins then no, they shouldn't cause this problem.

But I can't understand why when I click on your login and registration page buttons it immediately tries to log me into Facebook.

There is no code on those pages that would have this effect, there is also no code on the pages for the login period. It is all done on a separate page after clicking the correct button on the login and registration pages.

I can only recommend you remove the MOD and reinstall it.

Is "Sandbox" is enabled on Facebook in the Developper App? If so, only you (owner of the FB app) will be able to use it or other registered dev for your app.
