I understand what to do with the scripts in the edit portion of the installation guide, but what do I do with the SQL section? Where do I enter those 2 lines?

Thanks for your help!
You need to log into your sites phpmyadmin, and run those two sql commands in there.
This might help:

Code: Select all

Error:Duplicate entry 'links_after_num_posts' for key 'PRIMARY'
INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value, is_dynamic) VALUES ('links_after_num_posts', '0', '0')

Error:Duplicate entry 'links_after_num_days' for key 'PRIMARY'
INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value, is_dynamic) VALUES ('links_after_num_days', '0', '0')
It looks like I already have them. I want to remove them so I can add them in again. what is the reverse query?

edit: never mind. figured it out

Safest way is entering via phpmyadmin and delete/edit the values/row "manually" is strongly not recommended using mysql code for deletion because you can ruin your forum for ever

I have the same error...How did you fix it??

My error when I run the My MSQL query says this:

Code: Select all

Error
SQL query:

INSERT INTO phpbb_config( config_name, config_value, is_dynamic )
VALUES (

'links_after_num_posts', '0', '0'
);

MySQL said:

#1062 - Duplicate entry 'links_after_num_posts' for key 'PRIMARY'
From the error it makes sense that "links_after_num_posts" already exists. So, do I go to phpmyadmin and manually change the values? If so, can u tell me values to change so I dont mess up anything?

Also, does it mean that the query for 'links_after_num_days' was executed since it didnt show any error or do I need to re-run it? Right now, I can see this MOD settings in the ACP but ofcourse the MOD doesnt work since I have not yet completed this mysql query..

What do I do next? capitanqueso's post didnt quite make sense..can u add to it?

UPDATE: Never mind...It appears that everything is fine although the error showed up, I went to phpmyadmin and looked at the phpbb_config table and noticed that these 2 columns were there and also with the right values. The MOD does work but I noticed that it has a strange behaviour. Not sure if this was addressed before. Let me explain:

The MOD works fine when the external links are posted (or) if the external link is posted before an internal link to my site. But this mod doesnt pick up the link to the external URL if it is placed after a link to my site. For example:

This works:
Case: A new user is posting the below links in the forum and the MOD picks up on it-

Code: Select all

External link first: https://www.google.com/

Then the Internal Link: http://www.MYDOMAIN.com/
This does not work:
Case: A new user is posting an outside link after posting a link to my site first. In this case, the MOD warning doesnt show up and it allows the users to post the external links here-

Code: Select all

Internal Link first: http://www.MYDOMAIN.com/
External Links after that: https://www.google.com/
Hope it makes sense..

This is not working for me. I have a guest forum and this guy must be using some kind of exploit but he can still post links.

I try to post the same topic and i can't post.

This is really strange.

Thank you for this mod. It's great. 8-)
Too bad it doesn't work also for links in the profile fields (signature & website mainly).

This mod evolved into this one:
viewtopic.php?f=434&t=2127067

I am no good at coding, and merely put together bits created by others. Dangerousprototypes took this mod, and expanded it into the "spam hammer" I am still using it, and it works brilliantly. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be much interest in this mod, which struck me as strange, and it died off.
I am sure DP would agree with me, and be happy for someone to pick it up?
Go on ! it's not as steep as it looks.....

Is there anything around like this that actually works for current phpbb3?
