Is this ready for use in production? Spam is a HUGE problem that my board is facing, even now that I've disabled links for new users, they still post their spammy stuff without the link! Augh!

We run it on production board with moderate traffic, it works for us.

trying this MOD out. works when trying to send a PM, but i can post links and filtered words as a post on the forum. thoughts are i am missing something in the posting.php file? maybe something in the SQL? checked user logs and do see spam hammer is stopping registrants from updating their profile. PHP Version 5.2.4-2ubuntu5.7

EDIT: just tried upping the minimum post characters to 25 and that didn't do anything.

using black pearl template if that matters any at all. i have looked at the config file in the database. all needed entries are there.

I'm not sure what would cause that. How did you install the MOD? What phpBB version?

I would not expect it to work with 3.0.9. Did you have any other mods on 3.0.8?

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about those mods specifically, but I would guess there is some kind of incompatibility.

Hey there, im using this wonderful mod on my forums, the only problem is
that i cant figure out what separator to use in link black list, because if
i use "," users cant post any thing, because there post contains ","

any fix for it? thanks
That shouldn't be a problem. The code splits the list into an array at every comma, they should be removed automatically by the MOD. I can't think of any reason this would happen. What version of phpBB are you using?

if i remove the string ..., spammers start spamming
I bet, that is what drives the filter. This mod doesn't work on 3.0.9 yet.

I really like this mod, and we are using it on a production board with moderate traffic (though the spam rate sky rocketed before).

Though I wonder if there are some ways on a global moderator level and above to indicate that an new user is OK, i.e. can post external links and such, as sometimes we have new users with questions and need to link to an pastie for logs and such.

The source code has a different SQL command that applies it only to the new user group. It is not well tested, and you will have to alter the code yourself.

Easier: add the pasties to the site whitelist...
