ABDev wrote: [*]MOD Description : This MOD adds a input box for users with moderator permissions to add messages to users posts, which will be displayed in a specific box.
These messages cannot be edited by users without moderator permissions. However, you can set if they can read them or not.
I've updated Moderator Messages from RC2 to RC3 and found that if i enable permission to "read moderation messages" for my Registered users they can also see some elemenst from Moderator Control Panel :?:
In such a way thay can also read messages about upgrading phpbb instead of the mesage to dispaly while I disable board.

Is there a way to showing them messages from moderators without showing Moderator Control Panel?

Yes, it can be done by modification of installation files before installing Moderator Messages MOD.

Open: root/db_update.php

============

Find:

Code: Select all

'1.0.0-rc3' => array(
After, add:

Code: Select all

'permission_add' => array(
			array('u_mm_read', true),
		),
============

Find:

Code: Select all

array('ROLE_MOD_STANDARD', array('m_mm_edit')),
Before, add:

Code: Select all

array('ROLE_USER_STANDARD', array('u_mm_read')),
			array('ROLE_USER_LIMITED', array('u_mm_read')),
			array('ROLE_USER_FULL', array('u_mm_read')),
			array('ROLE_USER_NOAVATAR', array('u_mm_read')),
			array('ROLE_USER_NEW_MEMBER', array('u_mm_read')),
			array('GUESTS', 'u_mm_read', 'group'),
			array('MODERATORS', 'u_mm_read', 'group'),
			array('ADMINISTRATORS', 'u_mm_read', 'group'),
============

Save and close db_update.php

============

Open: install.xml

============

Find:

Code: Select all

if ( $auth->acl_gets('m_mm_post', 'm_mm_read', $forum_id) && !empty($row['post_moderation']) )
Inline, find:

Code: Select all

, 'm_mm_read'
After, add:

Code: Select all

, 'u_mm_read'
============

Find:

Code: Select all

if ( $auth->acl_get('m_mm_read', $forum_id) && !empty($row['post_moderation']) )
	{
		$postrow += array(
Inline, find:

Code: Select all

, $forum_id
Before, add:

Code: Select all

, u_mm_read
============

Save and close install.xml

============

Open: root/language/en/mods/permissions_mm.php

============

Find:

Code: Select all

'acl_m_mm_read' => array('lang' => 'Can read moderation messages', 'cat' => 'mm'),(
============

After, add:

Code: Select all

'acl_u_mm_read' => array('lang' => 'Can read moderation messages', 'cat' => 'mm'),
============

Save and close permissions_mm.php

============

DIY:

STEP 1: Install MM mod from edited installation package.

STEP 2: Click on "Permissions" tab under ACP, then go to "Group Permissions", select "Standard users" from dropdown and click Submit, then check if selected type is: "User permissions" (if no, select "User permissions" from dropdown and click Go), click on "Advanced permissions" then select "Misc" tab, find permission "Can read moderation messages" and set it to YES, then click "Apply permissions".

STEP 3: Under "Group permissions" menu, select "Standard users" from dropdown and click "Submit", then select type: "Global moderator permissions" and click Go, then click on "Advanced permissions" and select "Misc" tab, find permission "Can read moderation messages" and check if it's set to NO (change if necessary), then click "Apply permissions". Step 3 must be repeated for all groups you want to disable MCP permissions for.

STEP 4: Purge cache, refresh styles.

Nope. A Moderator Message is A moderator message. That mean that the message is only visible by... A moderator :!: :!:

This is the main behavior of this MOD :evil:

In my humble opinion, application of this MOD can't be limited to moderators only (regard to reading a moderator messages). For example, if I will request the user to correct his spelling, i can write an MM in his post and he must see it, because he must to know, what he should do with his post.

Look at the example notice in the first post: http://www.elvikom.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=213&t=30715
I added a small function to MM code, which notices the user (via PM) about editing his post by a moderator (adding the MM in his post). With your MM mod, it is very useful, trust me :)

Maybe, but it is not the main plan at this time. If you want pass a message to the user himself, edit his message.

Please note, that I gave the solution for "emsik" above. You can use it in the next revision of MM MOD (if you want).

However, i found a problem with the MM - if moderator adds an MM to post, then post author edits it, the MM goes away (it seems to be deleted). Is there a known feature?

We will probably take care of your modification in the next major release, but for now we wont change the permission system. The next minor release will introduce a CSRF protection.

Sure.

1. User X opens a new thread (or, answers in any existing topic, ex. not his own).
2. I write an MM in his post (ex. "Correct your spelling, please").
3. User X edits his post (corrects his spelling).
4. I check his post - spelling corrected, but my MM gone away. Look into the db = empty MM cells.

EDIT: MOD download link in the 1st post is dead:

MOD download link on the quoted site is also dead - it's the same link as in the first post of this topic, which forwards to page as I "printscreened" 4 posts above. I mean this link:
