hi there,

first of all, great mod you have there mate! but i'm having a little problem with it. I am running phpbb 3 RC8.

if i go to the chat page (myurl.com/chat.php),everything works just fine. but the shoutbox doesn't show up at the index page, how come? my style is the default prosilver. i did everything what the instructions said...

Yea thats why im still using the OLD shoutbox that is simpler.

Shows on the index page, you just type in a message,.. it has BB support. What more could you want?
Im glad it isnt too much IRC like, If I wanted that I would integrate some java chat applet.

I think NOW it is intentional not to show on the main page because of the load on the server,... just the way it works I guess.

it does work on the index page… read the last 2 pages of the topic on STG… some have gone through the troubleshooting… it's an error in the installation.
When properly installed, it does work on RC8… see demo site which is running RC8.

it works on RC 8. Although I'm confused about how I actually got it to work.

at home, using IE7 or firefox on my compaq laptop, the shoutbox wouldn't show up.

at work, using IE 5 or a version of Netscape that escapes me, on a mac running OS 8.6, it kind of showed up. As I was able to post a few messages in it, the box started working really swell.

The weird part is that when I viewed it later from home, the shoutbox was there and functioning well.

ok… after talking with a few more people, the thing that makes it work is refreshing the template itself through the ACP… purging the cache is not enough.
This is because, by default, prosilver is stored in the database

It always works for me because I never let my styles sit in the database as we're always making additions/modifications to it using subversion to keep track of all changes.

change your style to prosilver on StarTrekGuide and you will see it in the prosilver theme

I'm probably going to put this one in the MODDB as is, then when I get some time after the first of the year, I'm gonna organize my thoughts from all the brainstorms I've been having
