I can't even get the root of your site to load, much less your forum folder.
The box said 'You need Windows XP or better' .... so I installed linux.

What on earth is CVS? Do I need to install it?
And I can see no .htaccess in the download. But I can manually edit that.

*Sigh*

No, you don't need to worry about CVS.

And not sure why you don't see the htaccess file, I just downloaded it and it's right there in the root where it's supposed to be.

Maybe it's because I have a Mac. (Don't flame me please. I had no choice in the matter. ._.)
And I have certain settings in .htaccess already, so I'd prefer to manually edit. Can someone post what's in that file please?

Code: Select all

DirectoryIndex portal.php index.php index.html index.htm

<Files "config.php">
Order Allow,Deny
Deny from All
</Files>

<Files "common.php">
Order Allow,Deny
Deny from All
</Files>
You just change the directory index and add portal.php

Yes, and it works.

Also, custom pages?

No custom pages but you can check the KB for how to make one.

Also, some stuff can be edited via ACP, the rest has to be done manually in the portal template.

Well, what would really be nice to know is how to edit the main menu and links.

Hello.
I've a problem. I want a welcometext, but the forum said that the maximum limit is 255 letters. My text have over 3,000 letters and I thing 255 letters is realy short. What can I do?
My English is bad, because I'm from Germany. I speak only German and a little bit English.

Hello,

I think this could do the trick :: first make a backup copy of includes/acp/acp_portal.php

Now open that file in your text editor and replace the following line

Code: Select all

                  'portal_welcome_intro'                => array('lang' => 'PORTAL_WELCOME_INTRO'             ,   'validate' => 'string',   'type' => 'textarea:6:6',    'explain' => true),
with

Code: Select all

                  'portal_welcome_intro'								=> array('lang' => 'PORTAL_WELCOME_INTRO',   'validate' => '',   'type' => 'textarea:6:6',    'explain' => true),
That's all! Hope it helps
