I ran into the same problem on the language files. Ended up saving them as ANSI Files and they worked fine.

I'm not someone to complain and this seems like a generally good modification, but unless I'm missing something, it doesn't seem to parse correctly.

Certain posts cause it to send a invalid feed error, and attempting to find what characters are causing it has proven to be elusive on my own behalf. I've spend the good part of the last 3 hours trying to figure out this modification, and have to say this is way to over complicated.

I'm not trying to offend the author, but it scares the crap out of me when RC2 is released, and the 40 some off files have to be re-installed.

Here's my rant... Why the heck does Olympus not have this built in? Is it 2007? RSS is standard on everything?

Okay if I can't get this to work with some certainty of success I'll have to wait to another RSS feed system is out.

Since, I'm offering my opinion (3 hours of phpbb has driven me into diabetic shock, and has made me cranky.)
... Can't we have a standalone RSS syndication mod for 3.0? A single file when queried that displays all forums posts, or a single forum?

Okay, sorry for the rant.... it's probably just me, I'm going to go eat dinner know, and I'll be happier when I get back! I just thought someone should point out how tiring and cumbersome this mod is, (yes, I know it's in development... that's why I'm making suggestions) and the results are questionable.

Thanks.... Sorry...

This mod like most other mods for 3.0 is still in BETA. This is the time to find the errors and help debug the errors and test the Mod. I understand your frustration, I have been there before when I first started moding 2.0

To be honest, though, reading your post, it might be best for you to wait until a RC version of this mod is up.

I'm much better now, and did find the simple syndication file which is much more suited to my needs and err... my ADHD levels on installation.

I still am shocked that something like this isn't apart of PHPBB normally. I think your mod, if it was pre-installed would be an excellent feature of PHPBB, but as a mod it's insanely confusing.

Good luck on the development!

Nice MOD !

But i have a problem with the IE7 Feed.

Everytime a post has a "

Code: Select all

" tag in it, the IE7 says:
This feed contains code errors.
     Go back to the previous page.

     More information

Im Textinhalt wurde ein ungültiges Zeichen gefunden.
Line: 119 Character: 290

Naja, aber eine Leere Stelle in den Mails siht noch schlechter aus.

Entferne in der overall_header.html einfach die Stelle

Code: Alles auswählen
In Firefox i'm able to see this feed, but there are some "questionmarks".

This is the source of the buggy feed:
Naja, aber eine Leere Stelle in den Mails siht noch schlechter aus.

Entferne in der overall_header.html einfach die Stelle

Code: Alles ausw婬en

? ?? ?? ?? ?
{SITENAME}

? ?? ?? ?? ?
{SITE_DESCRIPTION}

Dann kannst Du im ACP die Beschreibung für die Mails eingeben....die dann aber im Header nicht auftauchen.....
I think, that's some "tabulator" codes.....

2. Bug:

If a want to reed a PM folder feed, and i'm not logged in, there are som PHP notice errors:
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /includes/functions_syndication.php on line 371: Undefined index: PHP_AUTH_USER
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /includes/functions_syndication.php on line 372: Undefined index: PHP_AUTH_PW
Thx for the mod, but I've some trouble updating the sql tables,

Code: Select all

ALTER TABLE phpbb_forums ADD enable_syndication TINYINT(1) UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT '1';
ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD user_syndication_method TINYINT(1) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0' AFTER user_sig_bbcode_bitfield;
results in:
Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 1
Incorrect syntax near 'UNSIGNED'.
Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 2
Incorrect syntax near 'AFTER'.

I'm not a sql guru, suggestions?

Then you have to transform the MySQL statements to MS SQL ;-)

aha, I could have think of that myself. O wait I did ;)

I'll try to find out myself, but I hoped someone was able to provide me the correct query cause i'm not such a SQL guru myself.

Thx anyway

I've edit the tables mannually. That seems to work.

Now if I generate a cusom syndication feed the result is that a download box opens that want to download a file "generate_feed.php"
Is this correct? I expected an xml file for a RSS reader.
