It has been brought to my attention that I'm hijacking this thread.
You are advertising your own update to that MOD in his topic already and discussing what you will change in the next release. That is topic hijacking. That topic is not about your MOD or fork.
This is against phpBB rules.
I'm going to have to fork this mod and change the name.
Not really what I want to do.
I can no longer be active in this topic.
Look for a new thread soon.
When I figure out what I'm going to name it!
This is not narrow minded, it is how Open Source works; if you start working on somebody elses source, and do development that is not coordinated with the original developer, you fork the project, give it a new name, and continue in parallel. Some forks may die, there may be a merge in the future, but you may end up with multi forks continuing on, and giving you as the user a choice of which development to follow and/or use.
This way of work would allow Esmond to continue with his own base, if he ever wants to, without seeing his whole code base reshuffled.
Same thing happened to the various implementations of the (photo) Gallery MOD: Smartor's, TS, Clown, NV's phpBB Gallery (the only one still alive, I think).
It is not always a win-win situation, especially if forks die and users have to swap, but it is the most honest.
Having a difficult time logging in. It's claiming my password is incorrect, I've tried it multiple times. I even used the "forgot password" method and used the password generated for me. Still claiming I have the wrong password. My username on there is lblanchardiii
I'm extremely thrilled that someone else is picking up the development of this.
