Re: [RC] AJAX Chat

Post by zentauriom » Thu Dec 18, 2008 6:59 pm

Please could anyone tell me about the CODE to have a LOOK like the Shoutbox from joebart72.

Got the Smilie and BBcodes allready from him.
Thank you joebart72 8-)

I mean like:
to erase Messages (Admin) in the Shoutbox, and not logged on the Chat.
And the Background shown in White and Light Grey for the Messages to display.
Also a Scrollbar.

I would be very happy about the Code.

Thank you Guys

Do like me : Link your CSS to your style so, you upload shoutbox.css into styles/your style/theme. Then you edit stylesheet.css and change for this :

Code: Select all

@import url("shoutbox.css");
No, you can for each style modify shoutbox.css like you want.

joebart72, I have looked through the chat code, but I am lost... Would you be kind enough to post or PM me the smilies and BBcode changes and additions you made? I would like to use my own smilies, too!

Done ;) I can tell you (for the shoutbox) that with IE 7, smilies are not displayed correctly if you add some. With Firefox, that's OK and with IE 8 too : Smilies go to line.

To add your own smilies, the tip has been given a few pages before...

Many Apologies if this has been answered.. I have the latest and greatest version freshly installed after download today! Im running phpBB 3.0.4

Followed the easy install guide everything went smooth, i removed the install.php file and navigated my way to the chat/index.php and I was presented with the log in screen wahoo!

I logged in with my phpBB username and password, went through to the login successful msg from phpBB and for a brief second I saw the crown jewels but I was redirected to the login screen doh! Next Ijust logged in as a guest and it all worked!!

Any ideas why I can't log in as myself under phpBB username? I saw something about sessions cookies on here so I purged my cache and cleared all board cookies but it still doesn't solve it!

I look forward to your response

Kind Regards

gr00vytunes,

In chat/lib/config.php, about line 60, you will find:

Code: Select all

// Session name used to identify the session cookie:
$config['sessionName']
You have to get your session cookie from inside APC of phpBB3, and put your session cookie name in the appropriate place.

So that it looks like this:

Code: Select all

// Session name used to identify the session cookie:
$config['sessionName'] = 'phpbb3_n4xay';
using your correct cookie name, of course.

Thanks for that... I had to change the Cookie Domain aswell in phpBB due to running in a local test environment and now all is well!

I added a link to the chat in my rainbow pearl style

<a href="./chat">Chat Room</a>

At it navigates to that page... but how can I get it to popup in a window?

Thanks for your help!

Code: Select all

<a href="./chat" target="_blank">Chat Room</a>
that should make new window in IE but in Firefox you would have to right click link and choose "open in new window" or Firefox will put it in a new tab. I don't know how to make Firefox do otherwise.

Try something like this:

Code: Select all

<a href="./chat" onclick="popup(this.href, 750, 500); return false;">Chat Room</a>
Tweak the two numbers for the width and height of your pop-up window...
