Re: [ALPHA] Topic Extraction (news, latest topics etc) - 0.2.3

Post by postman »

Can't get this to work,nothing happens on my site and i get no error reports either.

The 4 php folders are in my root folder next to all the other php ones.
My config one has been changed,below.

Code: Select all

<?php
// Mod Title: Topic Extraction [PHPBB3]
// Version: 0.2.3
// There is a readme file, please read it! Please also signup on the forums http://www.altercoder.com !

if (!defined('IN_PHPBB'))
{
	exit;
}

$forum = '18';

$limit = '10';

$title_char = '70';

$post_char = '500';

$show = '';

$date_time = 'short';

$topic_link_type = 'topic';

$comment = 'topic';

$phpbb_root_path = './forums/';

$phpbb_folder = '/forums/';

$smilies_path   = "{$phpbb_root_path}images/smilies";
?>
I have not changed anything in the other 3.

My website page starts as below.

Code: Select all

<?php include('./phpbb3/topic_top.php'); ?>
<html>
<head>
<title>www.mydomain.co.uk</title>
I've plonked below all over,one only of cource and still nothing.

Code: Select all

<?php include('./phpbb3/topic_bottom.php'); ?>

open up tetest.php and edit
<?php include('./phpbb3/topic_top.php'); ?>
and
<?php include('./phpbb3/topic_bottom.php'); ?>
to whatever they should be for your forum.

If I want to use PHPbb's styles system, should I include

Code: Select all

include('./forum/topic_top.php');
In the Overall header, the HTML page, or the PHP page.

I've already tried all three places, but each one throws it's own unique errors or just does not do anything at all

Hi,
exactly what I need, but a few problems that keep me from using it on the live site 8) :

1. it ignores permissions on the board. Thus, I have to define all forums by hand .. not very convenient.
2. special characters are not decoded before display - messes up the displayed text (titles and postings)

kind regards,
r.

edit: found fix for (2) here: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &start=360
thanks to pacop2! Should be included in the code though... 8)

edit: due to problem #1 I had to define all forum numbers individually (it looks like mentioned below now), but now the problem is that the posts of forum #3 are the only ones that are displayed (of the other ones, only the titles are displayed but not the posted text). I guess the bug is in topic_bottom.php line 80, where p.forum_id is just checked against '{$forum}' but doesn't parse the list of forum numbers first. Any ideas how to fix that?

To help you reproduce my problem, here's my full config file:
$forum = '3,4,5,6,65,18,7,9,10,12,13,14,15,16,17,59,60,61,62,23,24,27,28,29,30,31,66,26,67,33,35,36,34,37,51,52,53,54,38,43,40,41,44';
$limit = '50';
$title_char = '70';
$post_char = '500';
$show = 'full';
$date_time = 'short';
$topic_link_type = 'topic';
$comment = 'topic';
$phpbb_root_path = './forum/';
$phpbb_folder = '/forum/';
$smilies_path = "{$phpbb_root_path}images/smilies";

thanks,
r.

Hello. I have alot of problems with this script. First I used version 0.1.5. It worked perfectly, until I had 2 replies in 1 topic. Then it started to show the replies instead of the topics. Now i upgraded to the latest version, and now i only get a blank page. These are my settings:

phpBB version 2 (latest)
My site: http://www.demitemple.com/testindex.php
Forum URL: http://www.demitemple.com/forum

My topic_config.php settings:

Code: Select all

$phpbb_root_path = './forum/';

$phpbb_folder = './forum/';
My testindex.php:

Code: Select all

<?php include("topic_bottom.php"); ?>
The script files are uploaded into the root folder of my host. So what is going wrong here?

I'm using an older version of this MOD in the following pages of mine:
http://se-portal.hu/ -> at the top left, under "Újdonságok" it reads the 2 newest post from a specific topic
http://se-portal.hu/ujdonsagok/ -> reads everything from a specific topic
http://soft.se-portal.hu/patcher/ -> reads only the first post of a specific topic

dnb wrote:How do i set this mod to redirect to the forum post once someone clicks on the topic
Does anyone have an answer to this, I'm sure it must be pretty simple? I'm guessing it has something to do with changing...

Code: Select all

	// This link goes to the actual phpbb topic
	if ($topic_link_type == 'phpbb')
	{
		$topic_link = "{$phpbb_folder}viewtopic.php?t={$topics[$i]['topic_id']}";
	}
to something like:

Code: Select all

See my next post
...but I don't know how to add the last bit to the link (#postnumber)

Any tips appreciated :)

TIA,
James

Think I've done it :)

Please feel free to improve:

Code: Select all

	// This link goes to the actual phpbb post
	if ($topic_link_type == 'phpbbpost')
	{
		$topic_link = "{$phpbb_folder}viewtopic.php?p={$topics[$i]['topic_last_post_id']}&#35;p{$topics[$i]['topic_last_post_id']}";
	}

This is my next feature request for this MOD too. Is this possible?
