Re: [BETA] Welcome Mod

Thanks :)

Its not the welcome panel mod... i made it myself.. it was inspired from your welcome back message mod... seemed like a perfect thing to include it into a 'welcome panel' :D

When you go into your ACP on the left hand side click on "Board Settings" (under board configuration)
There you will find the place to edit settings.
When all else fails, read the instructions

Thanks a lot for replying. However, the settings under Board Settings are only for 'time of day' messages. I want to have different messages for guests and registered users. Also i want format the messages with colours. Please guide.

yes, this is the purpouse of the mod. To send a member or guest a greeting according to the time of day. ;)

This will require a little work. I don't have a whole lot of time right now but I am sure I can work something into the mix sometime in the near future.

Thanks a lot for the reply.
I thought formatting features were already present in the mod.

You can change the greetings in the ACP and it displays the username in thier group color in the welcome greeting. That's basically it. ;)

First thanks for this good mod, is always an good idea have some personification on board.

Now, to manage this on an multi-lang board like my, PT-EN.
who to introduce the time msg for each language, i have the mod (Enable Browser Language Detection MOD) by Martin Truckenbrodt who show the board to the guest's based on there language, but haven if you chose an different language than EN this do not work properly, half EN half other lang.

Can be introduced on future the time welcome msg by language.

Other thing is to add an msg like the, "thought of the day" an random msg by session id.

I guess the mod would have to be translated to whatever languages you have on your board.

Mod Updated to 1.1.2 Version. See first post for new download.

Hey stitch, thanks for the great mod. I installed on a clean 3.01 board, and I get this error:

Code: Select all

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /includes/functions.php on line 3491: sprintf() [function.sprintf]: Too few arguments
Here the area around line 3491:

Code: Select all

//--Get the userdata & time of day message-------------------------

}
if ($user->data['is_registered'])
{
    $l_welcome_registered = 'WELCOME_REGISTERED';
    $u_welcome_url = get_username_string('full', $user->data['user_id'], $user->data['username'],               $user->data['user_colour']);
}
else
{
    $l_welcome_guest = 'WELCOME_GUEST';
    $u_welcome_url = append_sid("{$phpbb_root_path}ucp.$phpEx", 'mode=register');
}

$template->assign_vars(array(
    'S_WELCOME'    => $s_welcome,
    'WELCOME_REGISTERED'    => sprintf($user->lang['WELCOME_REGISTERED'], $u_welcome_url),
    'WELCOME_GUEST'         => sprintf($user->lang['WELCOME_GUEST'], $config['sitename'], append_sid("{$phpbb_root_path}ucp.$phpEx", 'mode=register')),

));

//--End-Welcome_Mod-----------------------------------------------------
Line 3491:

Code: Select all

    'S_WELCOME'    => $s_welcome,

Here is a screenshot of my board. As you can see, I'm using good old 127.0.0.1 (Dunno if that affects anything)

I apologize. I have been real busy latley. Can you please send me your Lang/en/common.php file? I think I may have mixed up the instructions when I updated the mod. I am looking things over now.
