I have a question...how would I go about making it so that the permission is turned on upon installation of a new message board?

To be more specific, I have edited my phpBB3 to resemble IGNBoards, and this mod works perfectly with that. Now, I am packaging this IGNBoard replica and letting people download it. Now, when they install it, they will have to manually go into the permissions and change it. How can I make it so that the Admin/Global Moderator usergroups are automatically set to be able to change their title?

To the both of you who have been having trouble with ucp_pm_viewmessage.php, could you try the following edit:

Code: Select all

FIND
        get_user_rank($user_row['user_rank'], $user_row['user_posts'], $user_row['rank_title'], $user_row['rank_image'], $user_row['rank_image_src']);

AFTER, ADD
        $user_row['custom_title'] = '';

That did it. Thank you so much! :mrgreen:

DUDE! Ifollowed the [very!] long winded installation instructions and was very sceptical about whether it would work (not likely knowing my luck) and how good it would work/look. Well, after who knows how long - I got the entire thing working on my first attempt!!!!!! I saw how the HTML part worked and I might go and make custom titles a bright color, but IT"S SO COOL! THANKS MAN (woman?)! YOU ROCK!!!

Ok, i have do it successfully :lol:
Open includes/ucp/ucp_profile.php find:

Code: Select all

$data['custom_title'] = utf8_normalize_nfc(request_var('custom_title', $user->data['user_custom_title'], true));
Replace with:

Code: Select all

$data['custom_title'] = htmlspecialchars_decode(utf8_normalize_nfc(request_var('custom_title', $user->data['user_custom_title'], true)));
Find:

Code: Select all

'CUSTOM_TITLE'				=> $data['custom_title'],
Replace with:

Code: Select all

'CUSTOM_TITLE'				=> htmlspecialchars_decode($data['custom_title']),
Done :lol:

After we can change title ranks with HTML basic ;)
E.g:

Code: Select all

<font color=red>Title ranks at here</font>
I hope it's hopeful

Best regards - Autinhyeu

I now get

Code: Select all

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ')' in /home/ronnieja/public_html/RJDtesting/includes/ucp/ucp_profile.php on line 510
when I access the profile UCP

that 510 line is

Code: Select all

'CUSTOM_TITLE'            => htmlspecialchars_decode($data['custom_title']),

Well, I've fixed all of the known bugs, and I haven't seen anything else come up if it's installed properly. However, the two largest bugs I've fixed over the years (both this version and the previous version for phpBB 2.0.x) were undiscovered for months until I found them.

However, I believe the MOD to be stable and secure at this time, so I see no reason not to recommend it for a live board. If you do have trouble, of course, please let me know. It's getting closer to the point where I'm just going to have to break down and put out a release candidate. I don't currently have any planned changes since beta 2.
I installed it on my live board today, and it works OK.

I have a couple of issues, though. Perhaps you can assist me?
  • When I clear my custom title, the mod replaces it with my rank title, not the 'Global Moderator' title I had previously.
  • I am founder and full admin, and the permissions seems to work. But, I created a user and populated his custom title field, and the new title shows up even though he has made fewer posts than the 30 post limit I set.
Help? Otherwise, this is what my members have been clamoring for! :D

The MOD doesn't change any of the rank settings. It just overrides them on the template if it's set, so it should go back to the way it was if you clear the field.

For the second problem, the title always displays if it's set. The permissions control the ability for the user to edit their own title. The main use case for this is that several people wanted to set custom titles for their users but not allow them to change it.

How Can We Make Them Bold, Italics and Colorize Them > ?

PS: the html code procedure above doesn't work..

This mod had lots of edits at ucp_profile.php that need to be done twice
