Open language/en/common.php in a decent text editor, goto line 832, and see why its writing characters to the browser.

Most likely, you will find that is the last line of the file, and it includes some whitespace after the closing PHP tag (such as a space, tab, or newline).

Spot on and what a trivial error. Thanks very much!

Many MOD's require users to run a file to apply SQL changes, however, there are some that require you to make manual database changes.

In 2.0.x MOD's, you know you are required to apply SQL changes manually when there is no update file supplied, and you find the following action in the MOD install file:
.

Thanks a lot, but now I have another problem. When I click on User Map it loads but shows this error message:

Code: Select all

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /user_map.php on line 69: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration

Help please? Tried running the SQL and it gave me this:
#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'collate utf8_bin NOT NULL default '',
`user_lat` double NOT
Reads like latin to me. :(

as far as I can tell, i think my server is running on MySQL4.0

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an R-tard. I think I missed the option to create a database for 5.0.
/delete databsase

Gonna create a new db and I'll come back if I have problems.
1,000,000 Thank Yous to everyone who's been helping me on phpbb.com!
