I take it you edited overall header instead for that?

I say put it on just the forum list but then put a but of DIY instructions at the end that mention the location can be customized.

When I add this mod I will be placing it in one of the tabs I have at the top of my main page. This is where my Announcements, Chat Box, and RSS feeds from other forums go.

Any other settings, just know, you can't go wrong with options. The ACP is a great place to throw in some toggles and switches.

I have extended some of the functionalities of this mod. Here are the extensions I made:

1. Fully UTF-8 compliant meaning it support different characters and languages
2. Extended the Tag Add fields so it has a tag suggestion when you start typing similar to Google Suggest
3. Added a seperate page which shows all these tags with a slider per forum. So user can slide thru the names of the forums and see all the tags. Here is the link:
4. corrected the problem with Preview when clicked on preview tags were disapparing.
Would you mind share the UTF-8 complaint changes, I would like to use non-english characters and it is showing SQL error when I add non-english tags or search non-english tags.

We need to be sure, what encoding is used in tag string, we enter in text box. It's may be browser dependent.

I've used conversion win>utf-8 if needed.

OPEN
/phpBBFolk.php

FIND

Code: Select all

$tag = utf8_normalize_nfc(request_var('tag', '', true));
REPLACE WITH

Code: Select all

$xs = $_GET['tag'];

$xe =  mb_detect_encoding($xs . 'a' , 'UTF-8, ISO-8859-1'); // adding 'a' to avoid bug

if ($xe == 'ISO-8859-1')
{ // converting win to utf8
	$xt = "";
	for($xi=0, $xm=strlen($xs); $xi<$xm; $xi++)
	{
		$xc=ord($xs[$xi]);
		if ($xc<=127) {$xt.=chr($xc); continue; }
		if ($xc>=192 && $xc<=207)    {$xt.=chr(208).chr($xc-48); continue; }
		if ($xc>=208 && $xc<=239) {$xt.=chr(208).chr($xc-48); continue; }
		if ($xc>=240 && $xc<=255) {$xt.=chr(209).chr($xc-112); continue; }
		if ($xc==184) { $xt.=chr(209).chr(209); continue; };
		if ($xc==168) { $xt.=chr(208).chr(129);  continue; };
	}
	$xs = $xt;
}
else
{
	$xs = utf8_normalize_nfc($xs);
}

$tag = $xs;
However, it's not the best implementation.

By the way! Tag encoding problem also affects /includes/session.php causing error at $user->session_begin(); in phpBBFolk.php

Hey man,
I experienced the same issue (no Logger.php in my box).

I solved with this:

Code: Select all

<?php

/**
 *
 *
 * @version $Id$
 * @copyright 2003
 **/

class Logger {

	var $log = "";
	var $logFile = "";

	function Logger() {
		$timeStamp = "----- ".date("m.d.y H:i:s")." -----\n";
		$this->log .= $timeStamp;
		$this->logFile = dirname(dirname(__FILE__))."/scrubs.log";
	}

	function debug($message) {
		$debugMessage = "Debug: $message \n";
		$this->log .= $debugMessage;
	}

	function info($message) {
		$infoMessage = "Info: $message \n";
		$this->log .= $infoMessage;
	}

	function warn($message) {
		$warningMessage = "Warning: $message \n";
		$this->log .= $warningMessage;
	}

	function error($message) {
		$errorMessage = "Error: $message \n";
		$this->log .= $errorMessage;
	}

	function fatal($message) {
		$fatalMessage = "Fatal Error: $message \n";
		$this->log .= $fatalMessage;
	}

	function execute() {
		$fp = fopen($this->logFile, "a");
		flock($fp, LOCK_EX);
		fwrite($fp, "$this->log \n");
		flock($fp, LOCK_UN);
		fclose($fp);
	}
}

?>
Twill wrote:When adding a tag to a new post, I get the following in the "suggestions" window:

Code: Select all

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /phpBBFolk.php on line 218: main(logger.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /phpBBFolk.php on line 218: main(logger.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /phpBBFolk.php on line 218: main() [function.include]: Failed opening 'logger.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php')
I can't find a logger.php in the phpbbfolk files, so I'm assuming this is a php core file I don't have? Or am I missing something from the install?

It does include a suggestion for a second tag, but not the first. For example, if I have several posts tagged with test and post and tag a new thread with test and post I will get the warning and then the "post" suggestion under it. If I only tag with "test" then I get "no suggestions" (the same is true if I reverse post and test)

Also....I don't seem to be able to add tags to a post unless I'm the original poster. Part of the brilliance of tags is that anyone can add them so even when the OP doesn't tag their own work then someone else can tag it.

I would suggest allowing a tag-on-reply that publicly logs who tagged with what (so people know who is messing with the tags if someone goes nuts with them)

Image

It would also be nice to be able remove tagging rights from certain people in cases of abuse (and, a someone said, only give them to certain people, but I think that defeats the purpose of crowdsourced tagging), right now if someone abused the tag system the only recourse seems to be to ban them from posting, which seems a bit silly.

Great work, great potential.

Hi all,
I am experiencing a strange issue:
when activating the mod, the phpBBFolk "folder" appear in ACP
but

The other options (Manage, Clear Orphans, View All Tags) are NOT present, even tought I activated it.

Any help ?

Did you do all steps for installation?
Do you have some other mod installed?

You should controll that some mods aren't in conflict with this one

Thank you for your suggestion: I tried to do that by verifying all the ACP-releated modifications, such as the one for en/acp/common.php which I think it is supposed to add the relevant string variable for the ACP panel. Actually I cannot see modifications from other mods that can conflict in an evident way... but I am all but an expert.
Which are the other modifications relevant to let the options appear in ACP ?

Thanks, in any case (I am using the mod by exploiting the configuration panel which is the only option I have in ACP :mrgreen: )

Sorry for the lack of updates.

What's happening is that the company i work for have changed their mind about the MOD and so i am re-developing it. It still has many features of the old one and quite a few more bits that make it integrate better. As soon as i finish the current work im doing on the MOD i will release it, it has changed quite a bit though.

I will try and update you on whats going on next week.

nice ..

but I think u should to put the tags also as a meta tag ..

Code: Select all

<meta name="keywords" content="" />
and also if u can put the button next to topic title (in viewforum.php) have a link to this topic and tags on mouse hover on it .

thats can help the forum to display better for bots and search engines .
