Is this modification pretty well stable as is?

I think it is. I remodded version 1.6.1, IIRC, but the only thing I haven't fixed is the pagination.

Jan says that is fixed in 1.6.2, and I trust that to be true. :) He has done some good work!

This is the mod I wanted, and many thanks to the author, and kevinroxx, and others who have enjoyed a hand in the development of this!

I originally used Idiotnesia's Reputation Points mod, but he was away from the fixes for too long, and my members were unhappy. His appears to be pretty good now, but your confidence in editing the new code should be your guide.

Lord, listen to me! Like an old hand at all this, and six months ago, I barely recognized the difference between PHP and JS. :mrgreen:

I've learned a little bit... :roll:

I'm assuming you mean JQuery/Mootools and PHP. Or do you mean RAW JS? JS Can get URL variables like PHP btw, but it's messy.

I'm going to go ahead and wait for a MODDB of this though.

JQuery and Mootools are extreme DOM programs that allow you to acquire insane effects that normal DOM cannot do.

This is that JScript GET method thing I talked about.

Code: Select all

var $_GET = {};
vars_area = location.search.substring(1);

if(vars_area.length > 2)
{
   get_sets = query_str.split("&");
   for(i = 0, num_gets = get_sets.length; i < num_gets; i++)
   {
      parts = get_sets[$i].split("=");
      $_GET[unescape(parts[0])] = unescape(parts[1]);
   }
}

My function version:
function getGetVar(searchStr)
{
   start = location.search.indexOf(searchStr)+searchStr.length+1;
   end = (location.search.indexOf('&', start) == -1)? location.search.length : location.search.indexOf('&', start);
   return unescape(location.search.substring(start, end));
}
javascript:substring

Also, when I downloaded 1.6.2, it says it's version 1.5.5 :?

Not sure how that could be. I was able to download 1.6.2

Are you using the primary download link?

I have a problem with images. I copied all file, and install mod, but << and >> pictures not shown when comments table empty. I check link, and I see:

Code: Select all

http://(myforum link)/styles//theme/images/prev.gif
Missing theme name from link. I see your php, but I think this is correct... :roll: Why not see my themes? I use 3.0.0 version with subsilver-based themes.

I have problem with username registration to comments table. I have a user with name: ÉLET. But when she write a comment, then I see in table this: ??LET. I converted table to utf-8, and comment_author and comment_text record set utf8_bin, but no helped.
This problem only in username, comment text is ok.
I think on this problem and I think problem in a code when put user name to table. Anyone have tip for this problem?

No, the table is doing its job. Did you convert the member table to utf8 fulltext?

All table is UTF8_bin in my database... :roll: I checked users table too, and there is username: ÉLET
Comment_author record will be TEXT from VARCHAR? :roll:
I tried change type of author record, but nothing... I get ?? characters again. :(
I get this problem on Viewprofile page only, on comments page will be show correctly, but in database I see ?? again...

And a new bug again: if I turn off remember email from comments in my profile, then after page refress, turned on again. I cannot turn off this function!

I found this in a profile_comments.php:

Code: Select all

'comment_author'   => request_var('comment_author',''),

Change to this for UTF8 coding for username:

Code: Select all

'comment_author'   => utf8_normalize_nfc(request_var('comment_author','', true)),
