Alrighty, gents.

I've updated and code, and rewritten a bunch of it. Shortened it notably, too. It now uses the DBAL, so it should work with any database that is being used. I have only personally tested it on MySQL and MySQLi. Other DBs will require you guys, the community, helping out with testing.

Ukrob12: I kicked around in the startrekguide.com site for a bit, but was unable to find the MODx creator. I found mention of one created by geoffreak, but couldn't find the actual thing. If you can find it, I'd love a link.

After I get the modx done, I'll put it out for testing. Once I get a stable, release-quality version done, I'll start working on customizability. I like all the ideas that have been suggested: threshold slider, adjustable threshold, always seeing "friends" posts (burried or not), and so on. That will be later, but I promise that will come.

Peace,
- Mack

For the modx creator, go to "STG links" in the top menu then Mod Manager.

Again, I look forward to this muchly.

Fantastic!

I posted some concerns I had earlier on, I'd be very wary of using this mod until some of the ways of "gaming the system" are resolved (for example, if you have a coordinated group of trolls, they could easily cause mayhem, or if someone created a lot of multiple accounts it would be REALLY easy to abuse)

Here is a mod for another forum software which shall remain unnamed, this mod does the same thing, but has some features which make it harder to game (on first glance). Perhaps grab some of the ideas in there?
http://lussumo.com/community/discussion ... on/#Item_0

In addition to those features, some other things that might help stop abuse:

--Have "seed users" - assign permissions to a certain group who are the only ones who can use this mod. As these seed users disseminate points, or rate posts as +, the users who are being rated become able to use the tool (so only those who are trusted can use it, and it spreads through trusted users first, blocking the trolls before they have a chance to game the system)
--Require a certain number of posts before someone can use the system to stop lots of multiple accounts from trashing your forum. If a user has to post 10 times before they are allowed to use the feature, then they are already being rated by other users and are therefore identified as good/bad early on.
--Ensure mod posts can never be hidden (again to stop troll abuse)

I really look forward to this mod.

Would you mind sending me a copy? I'm quite willing to be a test subject, since this is exactly the mod I want. If not, then maybe an ETA on release? Keep in contact!

Mack,

Just wanted to let you know that I'm really interested in seeing this come to fruition.

We currently have a MediaMonkey forum that's dedicated to wishlist items, and a feature of this sort would give us a better feel for which MediaMonkey features users are most interested in.

The alternative is a separate system like ideascale (see: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/id ... launch.php ), but this seems to be a more compelling approach since it utilizes input that has already been received.

This is exactly what I'm looking for. I did a request here: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=1505935

I'm willing to donate. But anyway, this mod was started in 2007, so... it seems abandoned.

Indeed, it seems this MOD has been abandoned, therefore closing the topic.

If the author should wish to resume development, send myself or another MOD Team member a PM requesting to have your topic unlocked.
