There is no such option... However it excludes all the forums which the user cannot read.

Not good to hear.
I run a security forum with e.g. security (software) updates, all these updates are in specific sepearate forums, please take a look at my site and you know what i mean.
It don't look good when the latest posts survey only show updates and all other posts of my board are drowning between these updates.

I have planned exclusion of selected forums but for a version after 1.0... At the moment, it only respects the read permissions for the user and nothing else...

I did what you said, by adding the code to my stylesheet.css. I have posted the code with some of the code near the bottom of my stylesheet for you to look at here:

Code: Select all

/* bugs */
@media all and (min-width: 0px)
{
	/* reset file input style for Opera - it changes only text color and border, but not bg color */
	.btnfile, .btnfile:hover, .btnfile:focus {
		border: none;
		background-color: #FFF;
		color: #000;
	}

}
/*MOD Latest posts*/
span.latest_posts{
font-size: 1.1em;
}
span.latest_posts a.latest_post_subject{
font-size: 1.1em;
font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
}
/*END MOD*/

And I put the block of code in the index_body.html but the MOD didn't work, i placed the code in the overall header, overall footer, and in the forumlist_body.html, but the MOD still doesn't work. When I put the block of code in the index_body.html it would just display this text in the header:

/*MOD Latest posts*/ span.latest_posts{ font-size: 1.1em; } span.latest_posts a.latest_post_subject{ font-size: 1.1em; font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; } /*END MOD*/

I made some new posts, but all that was showing was the above text.

How can I make this MOD work?

googleandroid wrote:I am using the acidtechred style and I cannot install this mod.

I can install this MOD up until it says this:

Open: styles/prosilver/theme/common.css

my acidtecred template doesn't have Common.CSS
I have ie7.css, mac.css stylesheet.css and theme.cfg

So how do I do the following step that the mod installation instructions tells me to do:

Open: styles/prosilver/theme/common.css

Find
Tip: This may be a partial find and not the whole line.

Code: Select All
.clear {
display: block;
clear: both;
font-size: 1px;
line-height: 1px;
background: transparent;
}

I tried to partial find these codes in stylesheet.css but i don't have any code named block or .clear {

Add after
Tip: Add these lines on a new blank line after the preceding line(s) to find.

Code: Select All
/*MOD Latest posts*/
span.latest_posts{
font-size: 1.1em;
}
span.latest_posts a.latest_post_subject{
font-size: 1.1em;
font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
}
/*END MOD*/

Also what are the steps to make this MOD display at the top of my forum, instead of at the bottom? I need detailed instructions as I'm not an expert.

Provide me a link to your stylesheet.css file through PM... (Upload it somewhere as a txt file) I'll go through it and give you the edits. Also if possible give me a similar link to your index_body.html file of your template.

Still want to show the root topic.

Not too good at the PHP coding...

Code: Select all

$sql = 'SELECT p.post_id, p.topic_id, p.forum_id, p.poster_id, p.icon_id, p.post_time, p.post_subject, u.username, u.user_colour, f.forum_name, t.topic_title
			FROM ' . POSTS_TABLE . ' p, ' . USERS_TABLE . ' u, ' . FORUMS_TABLE . ' f
			WHERE p.post_approved = 1
				AND p.poster_id = u.user_id ' . '
				AND (p.forum_id = f.forum_id OR (p.forum_id = 0 AND f.forum_id = ' . $first_readable_forum . ')) ' . $forum_sql .
		' ORDER BY p.post_id DESC';
Note - I don't have a clue what i am doing! :D

Where does it get the values for p, u and f from as in p.XXX, u.XXX etc from so I can try and add the t.xxx

The abbreviated table name alias can be found in the 'FROM' line in the above code block... In version RC2, the topic table fields (t.***) have been removed. You can add the topic table fields in the 'SELECT' line and the topic table initials on the 'FROM' line like the posts, users and forums table initials.

Go to page one and download the mod (from the first post). Then unzip it and open the XML file with a web browser. The instructions are there...
