[ABD] newpost2mail: Send new posts as email to admin

I was wondering. It does not look all that hard to integrate it such that it would only send the post to people subscribed for topic/forum notification. The code for that seems to be in the user_notification function functions_posting.php. So it seems like we could use the code in there that get all the users subscribed to a topic and then add them to the list of emails as well. Does this make sense or am I smoking something?

And just out of curiosity is there some reason this mod did not use the functions in the the above to facilitate sending the email and or the functions in function_messenger? A quick glance would seem to indicate that there is quite a bit of duplication.

n2m is meant to be an admin tool. It sends out email addresses, IPs and hostnames, links to administrative functions. All these things should never be sent out to normal users.
Sure it would be possible with some (maybe much) work and investigations to make this an user notification tool ... but that was (and is) not my goal, sorry. All I wanted is a q'n'd solution for admins, easy and fast to install and to configure ... and that's what we have here.
Please nobody expect any development by me regarding user notifications - but feel free to modify the code to fit your needs. Thanks for your understanding

I totally understand and respect you keeping to your original goal. Can I simply use what seems useful out of your code in my own efforts. What license is your code under or do you just consider it public code?

Great mod thanks very easy to install aswell.. good work

Edit: had a thought on the way home, how easy would it be to set it up so that it emails details of new sign ups? Thanks

This is something completely different and can't be done with n2m.

there are already several mods that do that..

Stefan - thanks for a great mod!

However, I am having issues with the attachments (both attached and inline).

I get an error that says "Not viewed yet" at the bottom of each email.

It seems if an img url is embedded that shows up ok as part of the email.

Appreciate yours or others assistance with this. Thanks!

There is a counter for each uploaded image which tells you, how often the image was shown already. At the time n2m sends the mail, the counter is still zero. So that's the reason why phpBB3 generates this message.

This may be a security setting in your mail client which prevents loading external images.

I am actually using the MOD to send an email to the "admin". The "admin" email is with the hosting company. I have configured this in WIndows Live Mail.

- I checked on the Hosting company's webmail directly and it has the same issue. Attachments are not showing up
- The images embedded using [img] by users are showing up though?

I am clueless at this point? Thanks for your support!
