Really tired of seeing people who are new to modding and what not in general try to use DEV mods and go, why doesn't it work? If you don't know what you're doing, don't use it!
I'm now what I do when I do something. I have more than 10 very popular phpBB forums with many mods and I'm very good in php. But I don't know, why this mod doesn't function. In the official statistic on the index.php i have now more than 150 posts, too. But I don't see they. When I'm searching for unread posts, I see all the News from the RSS. But, when I'm clicking on the title, the topic doesn't exist. The topics are from the correct user, but when I'm clicking on its profile, the topics aren't counted, in the statistic are the posts counted.

I'm happy about all help!

Thanks to all helpers!

With very hardworking and many code changes (sorry, but they are hardcoded for my own theme. When anybody needs help, contact me per PM) it works!

Thanks, it is a great mod!

kateland wrote:OK I worked with Mike on MSN and we found the problem - his table prefix was wrong. Pratt, you need to change your phpbb_lastrss_autopost to phpbb_1lastrss_autopost. Your table prefix should be this way for all the rest of your tables, I think.

Try it and let me know if it works or not.
It sure does work, consider me extremely happy. Thanks so much! :D

The MOD has been working correctly for some time now. Only this week I get this message every now and then. Clicking on refresh makes it go away... Anything I can do to fix this?

It's definitely not liking the character in "World's" - but I checked the code and there is the $db->sql_escape language in there.

What is the collation of your topics table and row?

For example in phpMyAdmin:

I've got the exact same collation as you. A ' should be accepted, not?

Yeah it should be. I checked your feed and it doesn't look like a funky ' either...but for some reason phpBB is trying to encode it for utf8 and (\x92) apparently doesn't map to unicode. I'm a bit out of my league here...perhaps you can post your q in modwriters and see if someone can shed some light on it. Sorry.

Edit - x92 is the ` character. Probably needs to be some kind of substr code??

That feature isn't available yet and I highly doubt you'll get someone to write it for you. Just be patient and wait
The box said 'You need Windows XP or better' .... so I installed linux.

Hi Smix ..back to this thread after long time!

I was thinking of repeated same posts problem ..

How about every time feed is check the latest feed item pubDate gets update in TABLE column ..so next time if feed item pubDate is never only then it will be posted.

What say?

And currently pubDate as post date is not working.

z2z that's a great idea...and then in the ACP perhaps we could have an option that allows you to purge the pubDate to get current feeds, if you accidentally delete them.

Razer I am hoping for someone to work on that issue too. I have a feed that posts imgs under <media:content as a tag. Unfortunately that would require me playing with the lastrss class and I don't have time for it just now.

Smix, I have been thinking about an ACP "Feed Analyzer." Maybe you or someone else has time to work on this add-on?? When you add a new feed, perhaps it can do the following:
  • Check feed for validity
  • Pull all elements of the feed and list/display them with a checkbox that says "Display this element?"
  • Re-run feed with sample post look, make additional edits for display
  • Have the customizations saved in a table
Other ACP/enhancement Ideas:
  • Add the option for feed to be posted as unapproved (I have the code that works for this, just need to add an ACP option)
  • Add the option for a feed to post REPLIES to its own topic instead of new topics (!!)
  • Control the number of characters in the post subject (Razer)
  • Run the check for new feeds by pubDate, not subject, so if something is deleted, it stays deleted. but...add option in ACP to purge the orphan pubDates if you decide you actually do what those fetched, in case of an accidental deletion. Orphan pubDates = pubDates in the database that have no topic assigned to them. This would also mean storing the topic # of each feed (which isn't a bad idea anyway for the ACP) (z2z)
