Someone know how can I add more informations, like the register date, the online icon or the offline icon, the MP icon and the email icon, together with the user name in right corner when I click on the message Title in the newsletter page, exactly like is displayed when we are reading an Topic ?

Thank you.

Thankx Robra...

Hi Yukan,
UPDATE.
The error was a problem with my SMTP server. Not with your MOD. I got it working now.
Can you please tell me what kind of SMTP server problem you had and how did you fix that issue? I am having the same problem so your help will be appreciated...

I used the same mod to send the email to all users last month and I had no problem. The same error as you occurred this month and I am wondering what could be the cause.. Could it be one of the user had an invalid email address?

Hi, accn.

I did some sending tests and the result was:
1- When I sent the mass email to all users with the "SMTP settings" like "YES" in "Use SMTP server for e-mail:" option, then, the message error displayed but the message was sent to all users.
2- When I sent the mass email to all users with the "SMTP settings" like "NO" in "Use SMTP server for e-mail:" option, then, the message error not displayed and the message was sent to all users.
The your "SMTP settings", in GENERAL tab, in "CLIENT COMMUNICATION" section, clicking on the "E-mail settings" link, is it like "YES" or "NO" ?

;)

Okay, Martin.

I don't have any problem with the "Email- settings".
I only wrote to the accn user how I solved the problem between "SMTP server" and "Mass email HTML V 0.6.3" about the message error when is sent mass email for "all users".
The only thing is take care with the sent of email mass because the Server can think that is SPAM and to block the sent for few hours.

Thanks. ;)

Hello robra,
with the right e-mail settings you can reduce the risc nearly to zero.
Only some (free) e-mail provider with strange restrictions - e.g. AOL - will handle the sender as spammer for some hours or days by their own strange policies.

The most important thing for most of phpBB3 using webmasters:

Send e-mails always through the official SMTP server (DNS MX record) for your own (senders) e-mail domain. <= That's the way. Aha, aha. I like it! Aha, aha. (Who knows the song? :) ).

Don't send them directly to the internet using a DNS MX query. <= This is spam! :evil:

How can I make the online version of the newsletters I send readable by anyone?

Right now people have to login to be able to read them

Thanx in advance for any help

-------------------------------- EDITED TO ADD --------------------------------

I think I figured it out .. if someone could let me know if this is the correct way to do this please?

I also would like bots to be able to see it

I removed lines 29 through 39 from newsletter.php (which are shown below)

Code: Select all

// is the user logged in?
if (!$user->data['is_registered'])
{
    if ($user->data['is_bot'])
    {
        // the user is a bot, send them back to home base...
        redirect(append_sid("{$phpbb_root_path}index.$phpEx"));
    }
    // the user is not logged in, give them a chance to login here...
    login_box('', 'LOGIN');
}
It seems to work, someone please let me know if I did this correctly

Thanx

Hi Robra,

Thank you for trying to help me out....I just checked out the SMTP settings and the option is currently set to "NO" for "Use SMTP server for e-mail:". It hasnt been changed and I still had that error when sending the emails though the settings was set to "No"...

Also, though I had the errors, it appears as if all the users still received their email.. I was able to confirm this with about 30-40 users joined over different period. So i assume the rest of them also received their emails..But I am still wondering why this error...

$messenger->set_mail_html(true);
This is the same Fatal Error i receive (directory obviously different, but within the acp_email_html.php file)

I've been following this thread for ages, and i fully commend Ksar and others who have helped maintain this MOD :)

Looking forward to a solution to the above error

Using version 3.0.8 too, if this helps

Just wanted to give a heads up ^^^^

I've got it working now. I believe it was my rookie mistake of uploading the edited files before running the install. Despite the edits being there, they wern't recognised, or something! I'm not too sure

Regardless, i uninstalled the MOD, reinstalled the MOD, and then re-uploaded the edited files

Works perfectly now

Thank you for your hard work :D

When I try to send a newsletter using mass html email, I get the following error:

Code: Select all

Code: Select all

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
it's when I'm sending my newsletter..
I send the newsletter, the page is loading for almost 5 minutes
and then I'm getting this error..

I'm using hostgator VPS server..
So normally that should be good enough...
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

Hello,
check your email settings: http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/m ... /faq/f_385
Set E-mail package size to 1 (at least for a test).
Perhaps you need the Max Email Recipients MOD?
