Great mod! Are there any plans to have the mod sniff out whether the recipient can receive html newsletters, and if not, send them a text version of the same newsletter? I thinks it referred to as MIME.

If the mod only sends out html newsletters, and the recipient can only except a text version (which does still happen), the html newsletter will be unreadable. I would love to use this mod, but am hesitant because of this reason.

Hello Andrew,
there is a Newsletter MOD at the MOD DB which offers this feature.

Martin,

Thank you for the reply. Is this the one you are referring to: http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/find- ... %5D_1-sc_1

Will it actually sniff out what version (html or text) recipient can accept and send them the correct format (html or text)? Or do they have to choose in UCP what version they want? Thank you for any insights.

Hello Andrew,
they have to choose it in the UCP.
IMO sniffing out is not possible. ;)

Martin,

One last question. Is is possible with that Newsletter MOD to just send a text email to all users (with no HTML newsletter)? This way, by using the Newsletter Mod, custom variables could be used such as {USERNAME}, which standard Mass E-mail does not allow. I'd really like to get these variables in the subject text and in the body of email. Thank you.

Hello Andrew,
yes, it's possible. Make the plain/text the default value.
But username {USERNAME} is the only one variable (which is used hardcoded for welcome).
We are very off-topic! Please post further questions here: http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/m ... n/support/

Hi Martin,

Is there any mods for sending an auto HTML welcome emails to newly registered user? I know that there is a default phpbb welcome email under languages/email/ but I want to send another email that is in HTML rather than simple txt that welcomes the user for registering and also with a preview of various resources they can find on our site..So thats why I am wanting to send it as an HTML email mainly cuz of the email designing flexibility.

I am currently using this mod, but this is only useful for sending newsletters and not for auto email to newly registered users.. Can you please tell me if there is a way to do this?

Cheers...
