[ABD] iPhone Style

Post by callumacrae » Thu May 20, 2010 3:05 pm

Style Name: I would be grateful for any suggestions :)
Style Author: Callum95 (aka callumacrae)

Style Description:

This style is designed to work on iPhone. It also works on Android :)
It is based on iWebKit.
It hides a lot of the features of phpBB to make the style smaller and better for a smaller screen

Current known bugs
  • When quick reply is disabled the reply box doesn't display
  • Couple pages don't work, or look stupid
Demo Board: http://phpbbmobile.co.cc/demo/?style=2
It looks best on an iPhone or android phone. It also works from Safari and Chrome.

Any word on when this will be released? Been hanging out for a style that will be native to the iPhone.

A while, I'm afraid. I'm pretty busy at the moment and haven't had much time.

Does http://phpbbmobile.co.cc/download/file.php?id=2 work for you?

It's pretty good, and definetly a solution needed for mobile internet users. However it doesn't look like your using the most of webkit and you could compensate for the screen real estate loss by adding transitions and a little ajax used in a lot of web apps.

I tried making a web app for the iphone a few months ago, using jqtouch abd bearly finished it, but there were a few tools missing that I felt crippled my efficiency and time so I know how difficult it is.

Good project though, and I look forward to using something like this in future.
PM me about any topics I have made if you have any questions about them. I'm available for paid hire on creating mods and styles for phpBB, or configuration/installation - PM for quote

...and Palm Pre and Palm Pixi... and it should work on the latest Blackberry OS 6, which now uses WebKit as well.

I like it! ... Bookmarking ... :)

Are you going to support iPad too? I´ve just started searching a template usefull for iPad (and iPhone) and this is the only one good result I´ve found ...

Looks absolutely great on iPhone! ... Viewtopic is waiting for a better view, but it´s ok for now.

Maybe a better than "post reply/new topic" buttons placed as images would be better to "style" it as "tributtons" ( http://demo.iwebkit.net/navigation.html ) together with bookmark / subscribe topic ...

I´m missing a better navigation - so breadcrumbs on the top (not only the home button) would be great.

Hmm, but as I´m thinking now about the iPhone & iPad displays size differencies, it wouldn´t be that easy ...

Anyway good luck !

I believe it will work on the iPad - it works on desktops without looking funny, so I guess it wouldn't look bad on the iPad too.

I'm pretty busy at the moment, but I should be able to work on this a bit more soon.
