Simple question (I hope!) ut how do you convert a subsilver board to swanky? Is it just a case of repacing the folders in prosilver styles or do you create a new swanky folder in styles?

Thanks

You make a new folder in styles. Then from the ACP you set it to the default style.

Here's a tutorial: http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/how-to- ... on-phpbb3/

Lame topic! All you did swanky was read my styling prosilver guide. Matter of fact I had this style allready complete by RC1. reviewing a few post several pages back you discuss how you cant remove the color on the images that make up the borders. That was exactly how I set it up in RC1. When RC5 was released I made the border images transparent,which you couldnt figure out.

This is the exact reason why I do not allow vistors or even members to download right a way. Seems everyone is out for stealing and claiming other peoples work. Im not here to raise hell or slam you but i do think its lame how you wont give credit for something that took me 9 hours to write.

Its ok to be excited and release your free work but for christ sake, atleast give credit.

I have to agree with what Shoot says on this.
A style like this can anyone steal and change the colors and say, yes i have made this style.

I think it should be some guidelines on this kind of style stealing without any credit.
It is the same regarding the different portals out there to, all of them looks the same but with tiny differences.

I love your works and tutorials Shoot, keep up the good work.

I really love this style, I'm using it currently with a few modifications to the header, how would you feel if I were to adopt the style on other parts of my website keeping the header intact and of course giving due credit :P

If that's cool how would I go about making a blank page with nothing but the box, the header and footer?

Hi

I'm a newbie when it comes to using styles etc, but I do like this theme..

I'm trying to get it to blend in with our main site colours a little, things like the dark grey boxes around boards/topics etc and the rollovers currently being red, I would like them dark blue..

Are there any quick pointers to the key elements in the.css files to achieve these, or could anyone link me to a guide for the template?

Any help appreciated.

Thx.

Dek..

Sorry To Shoot :( Really sorry. I'm just not knowing what to put there in the main topic. Being this my first creationg though following your tutorials, i'm really unaware about the thing of the main topic contents. So i just watched other style topics & made my topic just like them.
Really from heart, i'm not having that intension to take your credits, its all yours. You've also helped me personally about creating that style. You really deserves the position where you are. that's why your guide to styling prosilver is still the perfect one. I'm really sorry about the thing that happened.
Btw i've edited my main topic & put the thanks to you there.
Hope u'll forgive me :(

You coded it. ;) If anything all credit goes to the devs. of phpbb and subblue.com. But! im over it its no big deal. Well im off to work on wow somemore. I put a update up in the styles database under the wow topic. This style will stand by itself! Check out the sceenshot when you get time. You will like it. ;) Later.

Question - would it be easier to change the width of the forum? I just want it a tad wider.

Where can I change this?

And would I have to adjut any other images as well? If so, which images?

Thanks...

Not tested myself

To make the board a bit wider, open common.css
Find

Code: Select all

#wrap {
	padding: 0 27px;
	min-width: 650px;
	width: 900px;
	margin: 0 auto;
	margin-top: 0px;
	margin-bottom: 0px;
}
Change

Code: Select all

width: 900px;
To the desired width

Then open bg_body (it's in theme/images) and add the # of pix to the white part of that image

Thanks.

One question though - My forum tends to shift to the right more than the left now. I'd like it centred. How do I do that? It seems like the extra 50 px I added has added it all to the right hand side, and not evenly across the board.

Here is an example:

My forum is located here: http://www.broncoshq.com/index.php

I have changed the width from 900 to 980.

I have also adjusted the bg_body image to 980 as well. However, I get the above result? It seems like my image doesn't reach 980 (Even though I resized it to 980, and I even checked and confirmed that the image was loaded correctly and at 980)

Also, when I changed the code to 980, it seems like it's added the extra pixels to the right hand side of my forum only.

Confused - Please help! :|

Try adjusting the image to 1030px
