Cancel Vote on poll

Post by Siguza »

When there's a radio button to vote for a poll, there is no way to cancel it, nor is there on a checkbox one.

It would be great if there was a button on the bottom of the poll saying 'Take Back Vote' or 'Cancel Vote'

Thanks

The admin can set it to allow revoting i think,

On a serious forum if a poll is posted the admin expects genuine votes, if the option to take back votes is there someone childish will have a hissy fit and be like "I'm taking back my vote" 😅

The only feature that I can see beneficial to add to polls is a vote confirmation, though I haven't used a phpbb one in a while so I'm not sure if that already exists - I was thinking about this idea and about canceling a vote for a short time in case of error, but the results could be skewed by others just canceling and then voting with the majority. So, I don't see this as a very good feature.

Yes; they can revote, but they can't delete their vote.

You could always have an option of something like "No idea", "N/A"

Hi
I don't see the point of deleting his vote, changing it yes but deleting it no.
Sorry for my English ... I do my best!

I think it's worth re-submitting this, perhaps as a permissions-based option.

A permission already exists to allow users to delete their own posts. Why not their poll vote too?

Easy to implement with an extra voting option: "undecided" (or "no vote", or "cancelled vote")

an "undecided" vote is a change of vote (and gives an extra bit of information).
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.
