Thread Prefixes

Post by Chill Pill » Sun Jul 28, 2013 3:43 pm

I think phpBB should have thread prefixes. I hate installing a mod every time considering almost every other forum software already has it be default.

The question here is, how many forums are going to use this?
Please note that I will not be porting any of my mods to phpBB 3.1. Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.

100s. I seen many forums use it. Promotion, support forums, etc. Many use [Solve], [Complete] and many other kinds of topic prefixes. Honestly I have not seen many forums that does not use it really.

Even forums as big as this forum

http://forumpromotion.net/forum/index.php

Uses topic prefixes and they're a good example why it should be added. Prefixes are very useful and can benefit many forums.

Majors such as MyBB and Xenforo have these as default and they get used by a multitude of different genera of forums, including general discussions, sci-fi and television/movie forums.
Always use the Support Board for phpBB support. One PM answers one. One post answers many.

A lot.

I'm using it to mark bug reports as solved/not a bug/etc.. on my forum. I'm using it to mark suggestions as implemented/under consideration on my major client's forum. It is a very useful feature.

Make it work like MyBB does. Which is a flawless feature.

I'm beside myself at how this even got downvoted in the first place. :?

Anyway, this would be a great addition to the software. As was pointed out, it could he made useful for forums that provide support so they can mark topics as solved, etc.

+1 to this idea. It really needs to be default.

Why? This feature can easily be implemented where not assigning prefixes to forums would essentially "disable" it.

Personally, I like how QTE adds this feature to 3.0. Aside from the JSColor selector that has been added (and not the phpBB color picker), I have no complaints.

So, you liked the idea, you use the idea on your own sites and you even up voted it. Then you go around and down vote it? Don't make much sense?
