If you press on BBcode URL you will see two windows with "Insert link" and "Enter description" - We obtain the following:

Code: Select all

[url=http://your link here]your text here[/url]

Screenshot 2

Thanks.

For an (optional) wysiwig editor this would be okay. But I prefer the quote button the way it is.

What happens if the user doesn't input either? Does it break something or just leave the =http* and/or description blank? What if I've already pasted/typed a URL or the description in the text box and selected it before hitting the URL bbcode, will it know which is which? Will it put the description where the =http part should be or vice-versa? Can the bbcode system handle that much logic?

I'm not sure about this one yet. I like it but will it cause more problems than it solves? Converting magic urls to topic/title makes sense but I think it'd be harder to make it work with the bbcode since not everyone hits the bbcode button before they add the url/description.

Since we're talking about bbcode though, somebody could write one to test and then try to get that added to the core if it works well enough. *shrug*

+1 for this: it will help users to insert url with ease.
But IMHO could be better to have just one dialog like the attachment;

I trust developers that will optimize the behavior of the code to solve these situations.

That's not "tweaking" a BBCode, that's "tweaking" the editor.

Also see Re: links from highlighted text and following.

The WYSIWYG editor will have that in both modes.

If requested, the popup can be made optional.
