Database Autobackup on phpBB Server

Database automatically backup on phpBB Servers or any secured server recommended by phpBB and can be restored anytime from ACP.

This will give a peace of mind for admins to not relying on their Hosting server only.

And who will be funding the phpBB servers to store all of these backups?

And what happens if you need to restore and the server is offline?

Plenty of those scripts out there, mysqldumper for example

That's about the environment, not phpBB. Next idea would be to backup all files via phpBB. No, this has to be taken care thru a different approach instead of software-wise.

Also keep in mind that the database alone does not necessarily only store phpBB's data.

If you have root access to a server have a look at automysqlbackup...

While automated backups through phpBB's cron may be something worthwhile at the end of the day it's something you need to do yourself. For example if phpBB were to take the example autobackupmysql you could trigger backups and schedule your FTP client to download them.

I voted "no" for the reasons allready mentioned + I don't really see the need for another (new) party to be involved. Anyway, how much extra traffic wouldn't that create?
