Making appilty to change the default editor

Post by Ideas Bot » Fri Jan 05, 2018 5:33 pm

Making ability to change the default editor same as the captcha.

Editor extensions have indirect methods to change the default editor by their editors, I suggest making ability to change the default editor by another editors (installed by extensions) easily same as choosing captcha.

As there is only one editor, at the moment, in phpBB this does not make sense.

I am completely clueless as to what is all about.

If I understand correctly, the OP is suggesting that phpBB comes with several posting editors installed as standard.

For example, one may be the native plain text editor supported by BBCodes we currently have. Another may be something similar in nature to WYSIWYG or equivalent.

I think the comparison to captcha relates to how easy it is to choose between those options. Inasmuch as there are 4-5 captchas installed by default, these can be easily selected from a drop-down menu in ACP.

@OP: The suggestion may gain better traction if you expand on what an alternative editor should include, and why it would be more or equally beneficial to the one that comes installed by default :)

Until hubaishan replies we can't be sure what was meant.

If he meant to make the editor exchangable like one of the CAPTCHA plugins (so developers can easily write additional ones instead of manipulating core files or using insufficient hooks) then I'd be in for it. But that would need a rewording.

We have one editor provided by phpBB, And 1 CDB ABBC
and 2 in dev Ren editor and SCEditor

These editors have a common problem, the default editor loaded first then these editors loaded and clear the default editor buttons by javascript. It is not good behavior but they have no choice.

I think it easy to split the phpBB editor from other core files, And make a default interface for how want to develop a special editor, Same as Captcha, Any one can develop a captcha, user can choose any one easily , Only one captcha loaded.

Hi Guys

What about tinyMCE, a felxible Editor.
Why not having only one Editor, which can switch between wysiwyg and Code views.

At the moment I am testing sce-editor in phpBB but I miss the self declared BBCodes as Buttons as they do in the original phpBB editor.

A alternative I think makes sense. I personally use the original editor but dont really like it, not the editor itself only the bbcode view.

Cheers Darki
