Quote MOD, alternative style quote?

Post by volgograd » Thu Nov 06, 2014 1:22 am

I am looking for second quote style. To use side-by-side with the regular quote but people can tell difference if the quote was by an important historical person, or another user.
I hope there is a mod for this?

don't need a MOD, just create a new bbcode for it.

in the html replacement, use whatever css and html you wish to make it look the way you wish.

Thank you! I am working on this.

I want a light yellow background, round corners if it is possible.
1px grey border..... That's the beginning. But it doesn't work yet!

I am trying in HTML replacement but it doesn't work.

Only span works. The div and the p class doesn't work for me.... :?

Code: Select all

<p style="font-family: palatino, georgia, "times new roman"; background-color:#FFFB97; padding: 15px; border: 1px;border-color: #979797;">{TEXT}</p>
I will check the link :)

It works! :D
I'm getting it as I want it now. I found the round corners syntax. This is complex BB Code and I try lots of different ideas. Font family does not change... Maybe inheritance ruins it...

But I need two parts of the BBCode.

Header and body of the text.

I have solved the text. But how can I do the header?

I don't think you can do the font family in a bbcode like that.

what is "header" in a bbcode box?

robert
Header is to give information about content of the bbcode.
Information about where the quote is from.
For example, a famous quote from Shakespeare (literature) or a magazine (political).

I mean the information at the top.
Romeo and Juliet
“O serpent heart hid with a flowering face!
Did ever a dragon keep so fair a cave?
Beautiful tyrant, feind angelical, dove feather raven, wolvish-ravening lamb! Despised substance of devinest show, just opposite to what thou justly seemest - A dammed saint, an honourable villain!”
«Пролетарская революция» № 8-9 1924
(...)чтобы учиться, учиться и учиться и вырабатывать из себя сознательных социал-демократов, «рабочую интеллигенцию» .

I mean the bold and underlined text - how can I get that in my BBCode? A different style.... and a new line...

I mean: If I have the forum about Shakespeare, I want the special Shakespeare BBCode! Different from regular quote.

quote2

Code: Select all

[quote2={IDENTIFIER}]{TEXT}[/quote2]
html replacement:

Code: Select all

<div style="border: 1px solid; border-color: #979797; padding: 15px; background-color: #FFFB97; width: 550px;"><cite style="font-size:2em;">{IDENTIFIER} {L_WROTE}:</cite><br />{TEXT}</div>
use:

[quote2=Shakespeare]Alas poor Yorik[/quote2]

Just adding reference to a font-family in a BBCode is largely pointless unless it is one of the very common fonts because unless the user already has the font installed on their device they will just see the default font assigned by their browser.

It didn't work? I copied exactly as you wrote...

I used quote2, too. Maybe you copied wrong?

This will do what I want. If it functions...
Can I call it something else, if I want "cite style" tag?
Or must it be called "quote2"?

My HTML replacement code is:

Code: Select all

<div style="width: 65%;
background-color:#FFFAD2;
border:1px solid #B7B7B7;
margin:25px; padding: 25px;
border-radius: 26px;
-webkit-border-radius: 26px;
-moz-border-radiust: 26px;
font: Serif !important;">

<span style="position: relative; top: 10px; line-height: 12px; float: left; color:#B7B7B7;  font-size:42px; padding-top: 4px; padding-right: 4px;font-family: Georgia;">"</span>

{TEXT}

<span style="position: relative; top: 10px; line-height: 12px; float: right; color: #B7B7B7; font-size: 42px;  padding-top: 4px; padding-left: 4px; font-family: Georgia;">"</span>
</div>
